Considering this was September’s Bug-Off, the next one’s gonna be a while off, right? All I know is that, unless Nat shows up in New Horizons and starts holding Bug-Offs on the island, there’s a really good chance I’m not seeing him again.
Oh, geez! Marshal actually won! What’re the odds?
Oh, one in ten? Okay, yeah, fine.
Well, Nat, no, I’m not. Because I didn’t enter.
I forgot about the Bug-Off, and so I was pretty surprised when, after talking to Marshal, I suddenly heard Isabelle announce the start of it (I have no proof that it’s Isabelle, but it’s the only explanation that makes sense). Marshal, for his part, immediately whipped out a bug net and started marching away with purpose.
Kabuki beat me in the Bug-Off I placed third! So I had some villagers tell me how great I was, and some tell me how I wasn’t very great at all. What an unusual night.
I’m skipping ahead a full day here mid-conversation, but I wanted to show the result of Katt’s fear of the Bug-Off. She didn’t even make it into the top three. I felt sad for her, but seeing as I only squeaked in there myself, I had to acknowledge that the competition was unusually stiff. 64 points! Ouch! How could I have possibly competed with that? Zell was apparently out there bangin’ on rocks or something.
Tabby chose not to appear at the all-important awards ceremony, so I guess she knew she wasn’t going to win. I did, though, so that means adding yet another gold bug trophy for my collection.
Today’s second-place winner handed in a cruddy ol’ saw stag, though! Only 51 points! Pull up your socks, Katt!
Well, I was kind of hoping that the banded dragonfly I caught would earn me something really useful, but I guess not! Just... first place! Which means NOT A LOT to me, frankly.
