I didn’t stay up very long after the fireworks, but I still had to talk to at least a few villagers before I stumbled off to bed. It was nice to see their optimism! They have no idea what’s happened in the world in the last five years!
That’s something I think about a lot! Even if civilization collapses completely, these guys are just gonna keep on happily dancing away, oblivious to it all. Provided, of course, that we can still charge our 3DSes somehow.
2019 is getting closer...
Some pictures from last night while waiting for the countdown. I decided to visit Harvey, KK, and Shrunk because they couldn’t come to the plaza. Can’t be alone on New Years.
For the first year, EVER, I stood far, far away from the actual countdown sign so that I could watch the year appear in the fireworks. Was it worth it? Um, I guess!

In real life, I got super tired and didn’t want to stay up late, so, just like I did last year, I set an alarm and took a nap before the countdown ended.
I’m old as heck, y’all!
I get up at 5 AM every day, no exceptions, so January 1 was also no exception! I realized that this meant I had the rare opportunity to check in on Megatown before the new day began at 6 AM on New Year’s Day, so I quickly grabbed my 3DS and checked it out. Isabelle was still there, Redd was still selling poppers, and the sign was still up. The fireworks, though, were long gone. At 6 AM, Isabelle quick-changed outfits, Redd vanished into thin air, and the Countdown sign became a New Year’s Day standee. It was quite impressive. I assume Isabelle sleeps either whenever I close the 3DS, or never. One of those two.
