I find it kind of hilarious how every comment on the new acosf cover reveal is that people hate the new designs and want the old style back, or at least an option to have them match the old covers. I know I'm not an acotar fan but I 1000% agree.
The original artwork initially HOOKED me and my attention. They were beautiful. These new covers? If they had been the first ones I saw, I would take one look at these on a shelf and move along. They're pretty, in their own way, but they're not right feel for the series. The new ones look like some historical fiction story set in the Orient, not a high fantasy-romance with fae and magic.
And I get Sarah and the publishers did this to rebrand and distinguish the series as adult now but this... was a big mistake. It's the publisher's fault the books even need rebranding in the first place for putting it in ya when it was definitely should not have been there.
Also, like... wtf is up with the orange!? And the sun? The mask?? It looks more like a Lucien book than Nessian 😒
I always hoped the ToG covers would get a makeover so the girl on the cover actually looked like Aelin (and not Manon cosplaying Aelin), but after this with the acotar covers... no thanks to that.
