Reading the above made me think of a passage in the (fucking dreaded) Azriel POV:

“Cassian and Nesta hadn’t reappeared downstairs, though that came as no surprise. He was elated for his brother, and yet… Azriel couldn’t stop it. The envy in his chest. Of Cassian, and Rhys.”

Both Cassian & Azriel were in similar situations here; wholeheartedly believing they would never have the female they desire, are tormented by incessant thoughts of Nesta and Elain respectively, and they both compare their current situation with that of their brother/s, and desperately want.

The language used by SJM is also so synonymous of one another- jealousy, envy, happiness, elated, gut, chest.

She knew what she was doing folks.

I am around 25 chapters away from the end of A Court of Silver Flames, reading it in full for the second time. I want to finish it by Christmas, so I'm challenging myself to read one chapter each day, and as a gift to me and anyone who follows me I'm going to share a favorite, standout passage or quote from each chapter with my reasons it stood out for me.
