I saw this on Stephanie’s insta Stories, so a screenshot she took from Yaz and I screenshot this.
I dunno if ToG had anything to do with the arrow. It would be interesting, if Aelin made another cameo in the ACOverse.
But I freaking knew it. Whew. So it’s not a multi book drop. It’s just ACO6.
Now, I’m posting this after my little angry huff about the license pull that none of us are happy about.
I figured that it would be something big when we saw the news about the license, but had not seen what it would do to creators. Am I getting ahead of myself by assuming the idea that it’s going to be a big deal kind of book as far as the overall plot of the series? No idea.
I don’t know why before announcing more details about aco6, SJM would yank from creators… That (1) doesn’t seem ethical, and (2) doesn’t seem like a smart business move. You want people to be able to afford your book and promote it like what has been done for a decade. The fandom has become a resource, so why 86 that resource??
Could it be due to the fandom wars??? Remove the power from certain ships because it’s “too hectic” and sell only canon ship merch? That’s one possibility. Still, it seems controlling, no?
I really believe that she would save her business/empire if she would at least come online and public address this. She runs the risk of further boycotts (because it’s been slowly happening already from the controversies surrounding her books). I truly see her tanking if she continues this path. It’s scary but, I mean what else is there??
Fans aren’t entitled to know everything little thing, sure. But the art, the music, the memes, the tumblr posts all happened before TikTok/booktok. 👀 So um, Ma’am, why are you acting like Feyre sabotaging Spring here?
I think a public explanation is at least in order. Because once this pretty penny comes out in an official book announcement…I dunno if any small business creators are going to be able to afford it on top of all the copies with various bonus scenes. Why go broke to make a creator more rich after the fandom helped get her there? And then actions happen without explanation or addressing the big elephant in the room?? Why more radio silence???
Obviously I’m still irked about it… I’m confused beyond words I’ve already shared. 😞
I’m exhausted with the whole arrow/D/8 discourse. I’m struggling with my own mental health at the moment and the discourse isn’t helping.
I stand firm in my opinion that nothing is factual yet, though it will be subject to change within another post or so from the author or publisher.
So. I’m gonna try and focus on ONE thing and one thing only: Book 6.
Book 6!!! We got our announcement! We have a book on the way! Finally!
From the photo…
The scene on the notebook looks a lot like the one taken of Sarah with her back turned to us and the hashtag “ACOwhat”. AND when she pops the cork of champagne in victory. Bet that felt fantastic!
So. Mountains. Conifer trees. A lake within the valley. North.
What could it mean?
Well, Azriel has a scent containing cedar, which is a conifer. Illyria fits the bill. But! So does Koschei’s lake…But would we get Koschei right away, since we’re also waiting for Tamlin’s healing arc, which is needed if Prythian is to defeat Koschei?
Terrasen from ToG also is “up North” and has snow and conifer trees. So does that mean we get another crossover but from Aelin and/or Rowan???
Then there is the elusive and confusing Morrigan. Who is still in Vallahan. Is this to be her book? Do we finally get to the bottom of the whole drama with her, Eris, and Azriel? What does Eris know???? What really happened back then that Mor refuses to tell us? Does Eris know about Gwyn and Catrin?? IS THIS ABOUT GWYN AND CATRIN???
There is also…Tamlin. Sweet, complexed, messy, sad boi TamTam. Do we get a prequel to the origin story of Rhysand and Tamlin, back when they were friends in the war bands? Would that mean we get a glimpse and see Rhys’s mom and sister? And Azriel and littler sister scenes with the two being adorable siblings?? What did Tamlin think of Azriel and Cassian? Did they get along at all before the schism? Was Mor there? Did she and Ianthe talk? Was the Inner Circle completely different back then??
Edit// forgot to add this bit:
Elucien!!! Do we get their slow burn? Do we venture into other territories to gather info on Koschei and how the other Courts are doing after the Hybern War? Does Elain make peace with the idea that she’s trying to use Az as a rebound? Does she make peace with the loss of Greyson finally?? Does she and Lucien visit Spring and visit the Starlight Pool?? (But wouldn’t that be South…?) If Elucien were to go North, would they be visiting the Continent? See Mor and ask wtf is taking so long with the treaty negotiation? See the flowers? Visit other lands?
Also: Could it be another Nesta book? She’s not out of the clear yet. It could be a Valkyrie book and maybe a crossover from Manon after the loss of the Thirteen. I would hope Elide steps into her Blackbeak heritage and claims it. But she is also a lady of the Terrasen Court, so… That could be dicey. Maybe the Valkyries do research on the Blackbeaks?? What if Cormac visits Nesta finally??? The whole “let’s focus on one sister before we work on the other”!!! Eee! I’m so curious if it’s another Nesta book and Cormac is still alive and they get together!!
Would Cormac show up first in Dusk, Illyria, or Vallahan? Would he show up on Koschei’s land by mistake??? Because of wounds? Would Nesta and the Valkyries have to rescue him??? Would Tamlin be asked for help? AHHHH!
I’m not holding my breath that that was an 8. I’ll believe it when Sarah says it outright that she has plotted out and finished all of the drafts for this book and the two after, another trilogy. (I would be over the moon if it came true).
I *think* it will be an Elucien book, but I’m not sure. I’m not going to put much weight on it until the release.
I kind of feel burned in a way, despite my theories that are still active. I know how I would have written it. But Sarah and I are not the same. The expectations I had for ACOSF and HOFAS weren’t met when they came out. I felt disappointed that certain subplots were left out, certain characters left out, and more suspense that continues to hang in the air.
I don’t know what to call this; literary exhaustion, fandom burnout? I feel drained and tired. Maybe from waiting??? Maybe from building up my hopes and crashing when they don’t come to fruition? I dunno.
Cuz…I have a new crack theory. So…I may not feel as exhausted with the books or fandom if I keep having those. Perhaps it’s the summer heat mixed with mental health complications. I’m purging a lot and perhaps that is affecting me more than I realize.
