HMS Acquitania Overhauled at U.S. Naval Dry Dock, 9/4/1942
Series: Administrative History of the First Naval District in World War II, 1946 - 1946. Record Group 181: Records of Naval Districts and Shore Establishments, 1784 - 2000
Built in 1913 for the Cunard Line, the ocean liner RMS Acquitania, nicknamed “Ship Beautiful” for its elegance, would serve military duty during both World Wars, often as a troop transport or hospital ship. Although the location of the dry dock is not identified in the photo, it is likely the Boston Naval Shipyard.
