what is DFP Sherlock?

Hey Nonny!

It's an acronym for "dark fuck prince" Sherlock, where back in really early days of fandom, people portrayed Sherlock as this unemotional asshole who only topped, and was a large part of the "top vs bottom" discourse in the fandom back then. Nowadays I've seen it used in a "mocking" way where Sherlock uses it to PRETEND he's OOO MYSTERIOUS AND FUCKABLE when in reality he's a snugglebug who pines for John and needs a cuddle and positive affirmation, LOL.

I don't care how people read his character, I just hated the discourse it caused.

Its really annoying how acronyms can mean different things in different contexts and by reblogging a tumblr post can be removed from that context and lead to confuzement. Then, googling the acronyms and leading to more confuzement because none of the suggestions quite make sense

Just now I read CW tony and was just like... I don’t remember there being a Tony on the CW, the most popular tony 

Or even weirder, reading a post about Gamer Gate and knowing they weren’t talking about actor Grant Gustin but for the life of me not being able to place what exactly was being referenced. (

Or the fact that anti-ace discourses are not using Self Government Associations as a requirement for admittance into the LGBTQ+ community.

Or this post about gender not being about a store for vitamins. 

And most of the time its incredibly obvious once you find out what the acronym is, but until then it makes no sense whatsoever. Its funny in hindsight, but in the momenet is just like “????... there’s probably some miraculous phrase that will make google reveal what this means but ?????”
