obviously not shown in this one but i think the shells for the gejinka hermits will still be present on what is now their tails, and they can retract into them via hermit crab magic fuckery (aka they’re not hermits without the shells and being able to retract into those shells so whatever)
also here’s some stuff about slate cuz im feeling chatty:
-their antennae are always kinked/crooked due to anxiety
-same reasoning as above though for a more stylistic choice is their eyes, pupils are always shown to be small/thin
-for whatever reason listening to firth ramble about. his random bs calms them down when they’re panicking. they barely understand what he’s talking about but its just his voice and the way he talks that calms them, plus it being him makes them calm either way (CACKLES EVILLY IN SELF SHIPPER MWEHEHEHE)
-due to a hc i have that ALL hermits in ACT have umami magic (but only some are aware of it and fewer still can USE it…) slate would probably have whatever is the equivalent of psychokinesis in ACT since i think thats cool. if they met with the moon snail they’d be able to have that
-good friends with kril probably due to the both of them spending most of their time being shut-ins before they first met and slowly gaining confidence over time
-gets a bit more confident because of firth, bonnie and maple (who has yet to be drawn)! they lament their lovesick woes to the latter two who have NO clue what slate sees in “that guy” (firth) but go along with it anyway
-their weapon of choice would be an engraved butter knife
