“Awww, it was only a little spell though.”
Mage Fantasy Starters ––––––
Just a little spell…
Alistair’s eyes traveled to the giant scorch mark in the middle of their floor, arms crossing over his chest. A few feet away, a young child with messy light brown hair and hazel brown eyes, stood giggling. Hope had been a surprise, one neither of them had even expected to be possible. When Eurwen had found the cure, she had been unsure it’d even work, but they had taken it together and sent their prayers to the Maker that it would.
Months had passed after that, but neither had been sure it even worked. The nightmares had seemed to recede, but nothing else felt different. That was until she had fallen ill, or what they had thought to be ill. A healer had only confirmed what they didn’t know, a child was to be expected in the near future, leaving the two with news they had never believed to hear.
Their miracle was now five and had just shown them her new trick, one that made Alistair’s stomach do flips. Their child was a mage, which meant she could be sent to the Circle, something he wasn’t alright with. He had seen the Circle first hand, they both had – he didn’t want his child going through that, not ever. He moved towards his wife, dropping his tone to a hushed whisper at her ear. “We have to teach her to control it...what if someone finds out? What if they come to take her?” They lived in Fereldan, it could happen easily. He would not let it happen – he’d fight to the death if it meant protecting his little girl.
