Believe in Your Artistic Talents
Artists are often harshest on themselves. They think they’re not good enough, which is why many of them take the safer route: they join the work force. But if you know you want to pursue the arts, then nothing should stop you. Believe in your own abilities. If you can’t praise yourself, then no one else will. This simple statement might sound too egotistical. Yes, you do have to know what you’re capable of, but being your own biggest cheerleader can be tricky. It can be misconstrued as too much pride, or some might assume that you’re just a big dreamer. Well, this isn’t about announcing all your accomplishments to the world. You don’t have to let everyone know what you can do. In fact, you can just keep all these things to yourself and walk around with a confidence that people admire.
Self-praise can be a very good thing. You have to know that you’re a talented person and that you deserve success in life. Your efforts might not always pay off. In fact, you’ll fail a lot of the times. Still, this doesn’t mean that you’re completely without talents. Mistakes happen because you need a little more practice. Go to school and attain the skills needed to open doors. It’s a life-long learning process. Some methods are learned through school while most are actually realized through experience. Then, when you actually do well, you wait for someone else to acknowledge it. If no one notices, your confidence goes down the drain and you immediately assume that you’re not good enough.
People get recognized for the works they did, but sometimes, life gets in the way that the rest are too busy to keep a close eye on what’s going on around them. Hence, this is when self-praise comes in handy. Stop being too critical. Sure, you could have been better, but keep these thoughts for the next time around. And the next time you do want to achieve something, don’t wait for the others to take notice. As long as you know what you did, you should be satisfied. You have your life to live and your dreams to fulfill.
To truly feel good, take a look at your passion. See where your talents lie. Focus on something because this is where you could truly grow. Sometimes, you hone in on the things you don’t have instead of looking at what you do. Stop thinking too much about the hurdles because you’ll only become frustrated. Even worse, you’ll always assume that you can never amount to much. Start an appreciation journal so you can see how much you’ve achieved. Never ever think that you’re not good enough because you can actually make something for yourself with the talents you’ve underestimated.
You’ll see that when you do start to appreciate yourself, you’ll actually get the attention you deserve. You’ll gain not only friends and supporters, but mentors who could further your growth as well. You’ll see improvements on a daily basis, and it’s your job to notice these as well. Give yourself positive feedback and make sure that you become a better person for it. Success will only be genuine when you stop focusing on competition. Artistic talents are found within, and in time, you’ll see that not only are you living the dream life, but you’re so much better because you worked on you instead of criticizing yourself too much.
When it comes to achieving your dreams, you need training as much as you need experience.
