A little late posting this, we had a blast facilitating UCSI students and 250 secondary students from Klang Valley. The theme this year is 'Change' and I'm so happy whenever we get to challenge the boundaries of what is considered 'sensitive issues'. The students devised short performances on bullying, racism, freedom of religion, body shaming & LGBTQ+ (that's right, the last one too!). Of course, a competition at the end is not ideal, there ought to be a discussion instead but I get why it had to be that way. I do wish we could do a follow up workshop with each school. Overall, I'm really impressed with their interest to discuss personal/social issues. I'm glad they care and not apathetic as some would describe them to be. If anything, all of their performances was a great teaching moment for us adults - it reflected what's going on. It's raw, unpolished, and jarring - and you can't help but cringe to see these issues acted out in such a way. But I'm glad they had the platform to share us a slice of their perspective, their understanding of such issues. I'm humbled by this experience. Also shout out to fellow trainers.
