It is no longer enough to consider whether an individual engages in adequate amounts of weekly exercise...We also need to determine how much time a person spends in sedentary pursuits, like watching television or working on a computer.

Prototype of ActivOffice Desk
The History of ActivOffice- Bryan Wassom (the father of Alex Wassom) came up with the idea of a working desk. As a hardworking salesman who was always stuck at his desk, he didn’t have time to go to the gym, work out at home, or even take breaks during the day, often eating at his desk. His doctor prescribed him statins, (cholesterol medication), he even tried being vegetarian for three years, but nothing was capable of improving his health. Out of this need, ActivOffice was born. Out of two-by-fours and plywood he built a unique desk around a recumbent bike. Redesigns were made to produce a working prototype. The desk was put into action by Bryan, and the results could not be ignored. From there, his son Alex encouraged him to bring his idea to market. Bryan, as busy as he is, has now given Alex the reigns to make their dream a reality. Alex Wassom has now partnered with Steven Dewey to bring the results Bryan has experienced to the rest of the world.

The Mission of ActivOffice
"We live at a time when the world has shrunk to fit into the palm of our hands. We've created a global movement without truly moving, but at what price? Our country is gaining weight at a rapid pace and has become more prone to heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and other life threatening diseases. This surge in health related problems and chronic diseases has a direct correlation to the lack of exertion and physical activity created by the sedentary lifestyle that has been embedded into America’s culture and workforce. The Journal of the American College of Cardiology has stated that being sedentary for “four or more hours a day [makes you] 125 percent more likely to suffer a major heart problem”. ActivOffice is the bridge between maximum productivity in the workplace and the retention of health and quality of life. This active working desk is a stationary bike adapted to our working needs. Outstanding results have been achieved over the nine months our users have incorporated ActivOffice into their lives. Users have testified that ActivOffice is directly responsible for weight loss, reduced cholesterol and blood pressure, and increased energy and focus. Our bodies demand stimulation, similar to the way our minds do. ActivOffice allows us to be engaged both mentally and physically, while improving productivity. This is the solution for an expanding working world and more health aware generation. ActivOffice is a win-win situation that will change the working world as we know it."
