Ahoy buster 😎🤘 what's up? May I please request a Zenitsu x Female!Reader where she is like really good at acting? And that she uses her skills to confuse the demons, play with them or simply convince them. Thank you very much kind person!
I know it's been a while, since I've updated, but I hope this does reach you and makes your day a little bit better! I'm so sorry for the wait, I hope you enjoy!
No, no, no (Y/N)!! The posture!
And now, smile. This was your time to shine.
You had reached the point where you were not sure which part was you. Who was the one whose legs were rooted hard on the ground, even though they felt like a shaking mess? Who was the one with fierce and determined look, with glistening sweat and confident smile on their face? Was it really you? Or the role you were in? Either you did not know, or had no time to think, as you faced the man-eating monster in front of you. So familiar, yet something so inhumane, that it made shivers go down your spine. Your heart beat against your ribcage, your throat dry of shouting, and yet you had the will to step closer, grabbing your blade tighter with each step you took closer to a certain death. The light around you was almost unbearable, as you did your best not to squint your eyes. It was close. Much closer than you’d like it to be.
And then, you swung your blade and cut its head of.
The crowd began to cheer, as you turned around and basked in the spotlight that so tenderly washed over your features, claiming you its own. The audience went wild, applauding for you way longer than usual, and you were overjoyed, tired and smiling all the way to your ears. You were breathing heavily, raising your hands above you in victory, as sweat was dripping of the warmness of the theater, as well as from your success. The overwhelming sense of victory was all you could feel.
Maybe it was the crowd cheering, or adrenaline rushing through your head, when the first scream went unnoticed. Then there was another, and yet another, which was followed with total silence. The audience had gone silent too, being so still that you could have sworn they had frozen on their places. Murmuring reached your ears, crowd starting to shift uncomfortably, and at the same moment when there was seen blood flowing on the stage from the backstage, the screams began. People were shoving off each other, yelling for names and a lone child was left crying on the stairs.
Suddenly everything was wrong. You had dreamed of this moment. You had yearned for it. You had worked for it. Now it was all gone; your glory, your dreams, your future. Just like a leaf that was destined to fall and cripple during autumn. You’d had everything you wanted for that bare moment, but that might as well been a nightmare. Because now you had lost everything. It felt unreal, like untouchable memory that you just now remembered. You fell on your knees, watching people run in slow motion, slightly raising up a hand after them. This was it. You had no way out, and soon you’d die alone in the place where you had expected to start living. How ironic.
But when you heard the footsteps behind you, smelled the rotten flesh, and turned to look your certain doom into its eyes, you had already stood up in your place, feet rooted on the ground, fierce and determined look in your eyes. This was your goddamn stage. This was your time to shine. And no matter how, your life was going to change here.
Suddenly the spotlight above you was not so tenderly hugging your features anymore. It brought shadows on your face, casting under your hard edges, and just like you had done just a minute ago, you grabbed your blade.
The demon in front of you was analyzing you, puzzled look on its face. It had probably been male, but long gone features of his body were now formed into disgusting shapes, bringing him into unnatural poses. It somewhat resembled a chameleon. Still, to your surprise and luck, its expressive behavior had still stayed somewhat similar.
You flicked your tongue, straightened up your posture and sent it a grim look, shaking your head slightly.
“I’ll warn you this once”, you let out, not even knowing if those damn things were conscious. It let out a growl, and stepped closer to you, which you took as curiosity.
“I’m a well-known demon slayer. Not one demon has yet beaten me in a fight. Haven’t you heard of (Y/N) the Ripper?” You continued, unconsciously biting your cheek to help you keep your voice calm. You had taken the role you had just minutes ago played. And it felt so natural, that you didn’t even have to wonder what to say next. Your words, your moves, they came out flowing just as water was streamed into one direction. You felt confident. You were not backing up. This was your element, your world, and it had just stepped into it. And for some reason, it was listening to you. You grabbed your fake Nichirin blade, just as you had been learning for the past six months, and to anyone else, it looked like you had been a fighter for as long as you could remember. Maybe you had.
Just as you were about to continue, the ceiling fell.
“Thanks for holding it for us! Inosuke, now!!” Man, who had just literally fell from heaven, and indeed looked like it, yelled at you. You had frozen in your place. There were three of them. And hell, was that gorgeous trio. Two of them were wearing similar suits to you, and you felt embarrassed at how fake yours looked next to theirs. They sure as hell were not actors. The said Inosuke was running towards the demon, taking off the head of a wild boar from his head, and quickly throwing it at demon’s, aiming it just right to cover its sight.
“Zenitsu! Go check on them!” The same man from before yelled, referring to you. Before you could notice, there was a blond man standing right before you, looking at you with a strange look. You noticed what he was looking at. You were still grabbing your blade, your knuckles white, hands tightly grabbed around it. Your legs were shaking. Actually, they were shaking so much that you couldn’t stand anymore. Not if you tried. Just moments before your legs had been rooted on the ground with such a force you did not know you had. But now, you had fallen on your knees, unable to get up or register anything happening around you. Your breath was struggling, eyes watering, and you felt like crumbling. The man in front of you gently tugged your hand, making you drop your sword and hastily stand up.
“Hey! Are you alright? I'm Zenitsu, we need to get moving, this is freaking me out!”, Zenitsu said with shaking voice, and you couldn’t but nod.
“Let's get you out of here. Oh- um, and let me help you!”, he said, grabbing you enthusiastically, warily looking around him to make sure you two were safe from the fight. His eyes were big and had the color of honey, his golden locks swinging as he looked. He looked so fragile, even though you were positive he could take care of himself. He wouldn’t have gotten so far otherwise. You were damn sure you had passed out. No one could be that beautiful.
He wrapped his hands around you, swinging your arm over his shoulder, and gave one last look to his surroundings before starting to take you somewhere safe. You felt his form shaking under you. He was scared too. You smiled. It was good to know you two were the same, even though acting brave.
“There was someone back there... On the backstage...” You murmured from under your breath. Zenitsu flinched.
“Y-yeah, Tanjiro’s on it. They should be ready at any given moment... hopefully”, Zenitsu said, and laid you to sit on one of the benches in the audience, checking if you had any wounds. You could not focus your gaze, and just let it lazily rest on the blond boy in front of you. Suddenly there was a small blush on his cheeks.
“You, um... You did good back there. Buying us time and all that...It was pretty amazing!”, He timidly said, keeping his eyes on your body, as if he had found a wound he needed to tend. It took a moment for you to remember what he meant and gave a depressed chuckle.
“I had trained for years for that moment... Gotta use those skills for something, right?” You said, looking away, feeling your life crumble away with every moment that passed. It all started to feel so real now. There was no way you could climb back on the top ever again. What were you going to do now? Just let it all slip away, as if it was nothing?
“Oh um..I’m sorry! For something so important for you got ruined!”, Zenitsu apologized, as if it had been his fault. His face looked puzzled, eyebrows slightly arched and mouth parted open, like he wanted to say something. He was still absentimindedly grabbing onto your arm, and for a search of comfort, you leant on it. Maybe it was out of character from you, but you felt like you desperately needed the comfort from the boy, intentional or not. And to your surprise, he didn’t try to get away from you, and instead took in the touch with red hue on his cheeks and grabbed his arms around you, nuzzling his face into your neck, maybe a little bit too eagerly.
“Would you like to mar- Um... Come back with us? We could use your skills and train you! Such a beautiful woman as you shouldn’t look that sad!!”, Zenitsu finally let out, standing hesitantly up and looking at you, offering you a hand. For a moment you were disappointed of the lack of the human touch, but then his words hit in.
“We wouldn’t mind extra pair of hands”, brunette man came from behind Zenitsu, smiling to you gratefully. You looked around. You had nothing left here. Everything you had ever fought for had been for nothing. Your time had come, and it had been wasted. There was no going back. But now, you were given a chance to live up to it. Give your all for the sake of the humanity. Devote your heart for the better future. Change the world. You pondered for a minute. Hesitating. But the way Zenitsu was looking at you, like you were a miracle he desperately needed, with his golden angel eyes, made you feel wanted. Like you still had hope left. You had made up your mind, and you raised your hand.
And then you grabbed his.
