Colored and shaded sketch commission for TavHowlz! Ryan got lost in the jungle (somehow... I'd love to hear your ideas for how he got in this position) and Karume is taking him back to where he belongs. :3

My headcanon: Ryan won a contest to go to Africa (Nes thought he was crazy for even bothering to enter those), ended up in a jungle during a tour, got washed down river by accident, and woke up with Karume poking him and looking him over. After helping Ryan recover, Karume got Ryan to grab on to him, and took Ryan back to where he knew civilization was. X)

This reference sheet was commissioned by ActorHowlez, featuring their lion-of-the-jungle character, Karume! Yes, he was inspired by Tarzan for those wondering. His design has been updated a bit with this reference sheet, so that's why he looks a little different for those who know of him. The jungle leaf texture in the back isn't mine! It's a free-to-use one I found that I thought would work great for this. :3

Overall I think this might be one of my favorite reference sheets I've ever done! Sketches, progress images, and a full-res copy with transparent images are available on my Patreon. :3

I was given the honor of doing an updated reference sheet for Luis Howléz, over eighteen months in the making! This was originally put on my waiting list back in March 2021, and I was only able to get around to it this week. Fortunately, ActorHowlez said it was worth the wait, and is overall very pleased. I am too! :D
