Reverting to an older version of an artstyle

So in 2019 I had this style

And for some reason I didn’t draw it again until.. 2021?

In which the artstyle had become more like

For some reason I couldn’t reproduce that version- so it became next:

Which was really epic, but tedious to make but I became obsessed with it for a really brief while (literally a single week?) I tried to reproduce the feel it had.

Which then became too hard to keep trying, because it’s hard to develop something consistent. (The progress also started to annoy me, because its so smooth, it requires me to magic wand a lot of stuff.)

So, I ended up with this alternative too:

And then I abandoned it for like- until January. This year.

This bust happened.

Shit got abandoned again for February, now In late March I was like.. ‘’aight lets try again’’

And while I realized- I do like the end result. I hate HOW TEDIOUS the progress is compared to the much older version of this side-style of mine.

I call it ‘’toonchibi’’, note that. So its not really ‘’chibi’’ its more toony.

But yeah so I was like ‘’fuck i love the work but i hate drawing it- takes too damn long for something simple, and If I try too hard I just wanna die.’’

And then my brain just decided ‘’lets try and revert to that old 2019 style, based on a drawing from then you really liked.’’

Here’s the drawing that made me feel nostalgic:

While the rendering is outdated, it has so much character compared to the smoother and neater stuff.

So here is were we are now: 2022 edition.

And I am a very happy boi. I hope this time it sticks around more. Damn I missed this. Breh.
