I know all the extenuating circumstances for a big power-outage in this case. Washington is a very heavily treed area; its verdant suburb-within-the-city areas are the most forest-like of all... Also, urban officials can't really base their plans on weather extremes they have never seen before -- though with current climate trends these seem to be coming more and more frequently. Still. How can it be that in the imperial-capital city of the richest nation the world has ever seen, people are told that it will probably be a full week before electric power is restored?

okay so this one takes place way before the first one

"I really don't like that guy."

"What guy?" 

"Hi--Kao--Hik-- That twin. The one who's always staring at you." Logan's practically seething.

"He's not always staring at me, Lo. You're being ridiculous." You roll your eyes.

"Yes he is! He's staring at you right fucking now!" Logan hisses. You look behind you, and sure enough there he is. He should probably be paying more attention to the girls at the table with him and his brother but he isn't. He's staring directly at you.

"Well he is now. He can probably tell we're talking about him. That's all."

Just as you say that, Hikaru is muttering some excuse to his guests and making his way over to where Logan and you are sitting. The look of death on Logan's face would be hilarious in another situation. Right now it's just scary. 

"Hello, Courtney. And....?"

"Logan." the blonde fills in through clenched teeth. 

"Right. Courtney there's something I've been meaning to ask you..." Hikaru says smoothly.

"She's not interested. Go." 

"Logan!" You give your friend a look before turning back to the twin, "You were saying, Hikaru?"

"I was going to ask if you wanted to go out friday night, but if your boyfriend is that bothered..." he gives Logan an uncaring glance.

"He's not...Don't be..."

"We're not dating, ass hat." Logan finally says when you fail to complete your explanation.

"Oh! Well then..." Hikaru smiles, "There's no reason for me not to extend an invitation for friday night?" 

You're silent for a long moment, indecisive. Finally you come to a decision, throwing your best friend an annoyed glance that implies you'll be talking to him later before turning back to the grinning twin, "It would be my pleasure."
