Imagine Lando trying to reach out to Ren, because Lando knows what it's like to betray Han, and Ren isn't having any of it. He's still in the "I've fucked up the most out of everyone" mindset and he's frustratingly difficult to reach. But Lando isn't willing to give up so easily, hell he helped raise this kid, so he keeps trying, tells Ren he hurt Han too, big time. Ren just snaps back "But you didn't kill him!" which, yeah, he didn't. 1/?
Lando fucked up but he got to make it up to Han in person. Ren doesn't get to have that luxury, but that doesn't mean he can't make it up to Han somehow. And he can start by moving past what he did, because Han wouldn't want his son beating himself up so much. Lando was there when Ben was born, and Ren has no idea how Han looked at him the first time he held his son. Ben and Leia, they were the best things to ever happen to him. 2/?

He drags Ren to an old storage closet and pulls out a Holo and tells Ren to watch. He does, and it's Lando filming Han not long after Ben was born, probably no more than a few hours. The babe is asleep in his father's arms and Lando tells Han to say something, a little message for his son he can watch one day to know how much of a mess his dad was. 4/?
He does, and Han just tells Ben how terrified he is of messing this up. He doesn't know how to be a dad, he barely knows how to be a smuggler. But he's going to try, and he's sure no matter how it ends up Ben will turn out to be someone he's proud of. No matter what, Han believes that. 5/5
Alright, look. My buddy, my pal, my bucky, you’ve gotta go. I can’t handle this heartbreak. This is sad and beautiful and I’m gonna start bawling as much as Ren does when he sees it.
It works though, it one hundred percent hworks to help Ren move on. It’s basically the uncle Ben voice mail in the Amazing Spiderman; Ren keeps the holo, watches it daily, and it reminds him that he was worth everything to someone. That he needs to make sure that he does his father proud.
