Bisexual people and pansexual people deserve separate pride events that are just about their identity. We are not the same and I think that many in the pansexual community would be just as frustrated as I am about people assuming otherwise

Hey, I'm a bi person who has mostly left the butch/femme discourse, but I'm wondering if you have links to other sources on why/why not bi people or really the whole lgbt community can use those terms? I tend to agree with your view but it would be nice to read some sources written by others, such as articles or theses, etc. Thanks!
Hi,
The asks I have already answered on this contain links to other people’s writings on this as well as suggested authors. I suggest S. Bear Bergman and The Bisexual Butch, and there’s a link in one of those asks to a study done in the 90s on the use of the words ‘butch’ and ‘femme’ in lesbian, bisexual, and gay male populations. (Spoiler, all the communities used them freely.)
The short version of this is that the use of the Polari terms ‘butch’ and ‘femme’ in wlw communities (they were used before this in gay male communities, read up on Polari and you’ll see how ridiculous it is that there are people claiming these has always been lesbians-only terms) predates the rise of ‘lesbian as a political identity’/’lesbian separatists’ which was a TERF-centric movement. Before that time, there was no dividing line between the bisexual and lesbian communities, and all members of the wlw community used butch and femme.
Censoring and censuring who can use what words is a tactic of the TERFs who split bisexuals off from the wlw community in the 70s as part of a divide and conquer technique, and sadly, it’s an effective technique.
Side note, I realized that I use a couple of Polari terms in daily life because they came to me through community use. The one I use most often is ‘zhoosh’, which I learnt from @dadhoc, who learnt it from the Faire community, which links to both the LGBTQ and theatre communities. Language is cool and vibrant and living.

Sometimes I get so hype about an idea that I just can't sleep until I've seen it through.
This is the case with the new set of shirts I spent all night making, after someone ( @thebibliosphere I am looking at you) asked me for a 'Bi Pride Pisces shirt.' Hours and hours and 40+ files later, there's a Pride Zodiac set up on the site!
I really love the watercolor/moon-surface effect on these graphics, and how big and bright the colors will come out. (Like I said, I'm super hype about this project.)
