when a random para enters who hasn’t been seen in years
Free things to do when you've consumed all canon media and you need to breathe the hyper-fixation in:
(i.e: A guide for my fellow unwell people who need to inject their hyperfixation into their veins. You've watched every episode, read every book, or listened to every song. What do you do now?)
- Write down everything. Write down the lore, organizing it in a timeline. Write down the characters and their traits. Write down how this thing makes you feel. Write it all down.
- Create playlists for your favorite characters!! Maybe songs you think they'd listen to/like or songs that fit their general vibe/aesthetic.
- Create Pinterest boards based on each character.
- Print out pictures of your hyperfixation. Paste them to your walls and notebooks and laptop.
- Write your own fanfiction or create your own drawings/doodles!!! (POST THEM!!)
- Create collages cut from books, magazines, newspapers, or packages!
- Make a wishlist of things based on this hyper-fixation. (Plushies, merch, etc.)
- Join a community (Tik Tok, Tumblr, discord, twitter, etc.) That way you can talk to others who may validate your ideas and input.
- Create a powerpoint as if you were introducing someone to this topic for the first time. You can add lore, pictures of the characters, whatever you want!
- Create a fan page. Make bad memes.
- Create OC's!! They can be based off a real life character or a completely unrelated character. There's no rules. Even if you don't draw you can literally just think about them.
(I have an entire note in my notes app of my OC that only I have ever known about and never told anybody else about. He exists only within my mind and notes app. If you ask me about him, I'll marry you.)
- Write essays about your hyperfixation. Here's some ideas of what you could write an essay about!!
A controversial take you have and why you're right.
Maybe the lore could be interpreted in many ways, here's what they really meant:
Maybe your hyperfixation is fact-based. Teach me all you know, share educational facts and why these things are important to know.
Why this character is the best in the world:
- Apps like Character.AI or Chai can give you the chance to "talk" to your favs. (I personally prefer Antar bc it is AI free. You essentially are talking to yourself instead lol)
- Maybe you finished the series or read all the books but there may be things you missed. Learn new things about your hyper-fixation, even if they're small and niche. (If there's any books, comics, or written material you can't pay for, try finding it by googling "free epub/pdf download" after the title of whatever you're looking for.)
- Rewatch/ Reread/ Replay it!!!
Just now realizing that if I die, my paras die. Like. They aren’t real. They only live in my head. If I die. They won’t be there to mourn me.
When do immersive daydreamings become MADD? I see a lot of relatable things in MADD community, but can't really understand if my daydreamings are just immersive or especially maladaptive. If it's possible, can you provide examples? Thank you.
Immersive Daydreaming becomes MD when the daydreaming habit causes distress and dysfunction. The behavior will have a negative impact on the person's life. Where that impact hits is different for everyone but some common experiences include: Not being able to stop even though you want to and have tried multiple times. Yearning for your daydreams when you are not actively engaged in them. Becoming angry when your daydreaming is interrupted. Choosing to daydream over other desires or responsibilities. Self-isolating and shunning social contact in favor of daydreaming. Continuing a daydream despite physical discomfort, pain or injury associated with the daydreaming behavior (pacing, for example, is very common among MDers). There are many other ways the "maladaptive" part can manifest, but I hope these few give you a better idea.
that sickly sweet feeling you get when daydreaming a love scenario and it almost makes you a bit nauseated at how sweet it is >>>>>>>>
there's something endearing about how i came to tumblr 5-7 years ago, made a tumblr account about maladaptive daydreaming, created a bunch of exclusive madd terms with my mutuals, delete the account, and then see that they're still being used to this day by a lot more blogs.
back in the day there were only like 10 exclusively madd blogs and i just wanted to make relatable posts for people who share the same experiences.
god i miss those days. i wish i still had my account but i deleted them because i wasn't in a good mental state back then. i'm happy that i did though, i'm in a such better state right now.
My MADD bunny just arrived and I love her so much 😭 (theres little symbols on her feet too and I have no clue what any of them mean)
(I put her on my desk so that she can watch me daydream)
