ACX2016 Day 2 and 3: COMPLETE!!

Since it was my birthday last September 3 (Saturday), I couldn’t make a daily update of the convention. My friends surprised me at my table with a lit birthday cake and we went out for blue wine after the convention

So here is the summary of both day 2 and 3!

Cosplayers and the Event

The number of cosplayers grew on day 2! I was seeing characters from Princess Tutu, OPM, Overwatch, the leader of Korea and more! They were scattered and multiplying as the day passed! It got more and more interesting to try and roam the convention hall just to snag a few pictures of them!!

But the cosplays on day 2 could not compete with what came on day 3! THE ROOM WAS FLOODING WITH CHARACTERS. AS IN FLOODING!! We had Haikyuu boys sitting right infront of our table, with nowhere else to sit! It kind of annoyed us because they ended up blocking the way to get to the artist alley. And well, we need those customers and buyers to come by and purchase our stuff.

BTW The karaoke contests were the BOMB!! They sang a variety of songs and the singers had voices that could send shivers down your spine!

A few of the songs performed were: Sakura Kiss, Sengoku Basara, Inuyasha, Card Captor Sakura, Haruhi Suzumiya songs and more! nI kinda wish I had joined. It bet it would have been fun :3

Art booth

Our booth made a great amount of profit! We definitely did way better than the previous con! Most of the stickers were sold and I got a lot of my posters sold and gave a ton of free Miraculous Ladybug fan art!

Thankfully, we were able to sell our commissions for no less than P100 and then P300 for coloured pieces! It was a great deal! I owe it to my new-found ability to watercolour fast huhu TT~TT

Anyways, this was just a simple summary of the event!

We must be selling at Cosmania2016! SO WATCH OUT!!!

(We won’t be doing commissions though)

Achievement at #ACX2016 yesterday: Have a picture with the one-and-only, Mr. Guy Singzon!!! Lesson for the day: "Kung gusto mo ng pagbabago sa sistema, wag kang dada ng dada sa social media; kumilos ka." The story: I was one of the contestants in the round 2 eliminations for the Cosplay Karaoke yesterday. While waiting backstage, I noticed someone familiar sitting in a corner and wearing a VIP ID... You know, one of the famous cosplayers here in the Philippines. And so, I smiled at him and he smiled back. After a while, I gathered enough courage to ask if he's one of those pioneers of cosplaying in the Philippines ('cause that's what I thought). He said, (nv) "Hindi naman. 2000 nung nagstart ang cosplay sa Pilipinas; 2007 ako nagstart magcosplay. Pero nasa 40's na ako noon." I asked for his name and he kindly told me. I also told him that I remembered him from one of the AniCons last year, where he said farewell to the cosplaying world. Or so I thought. He told me that he resigned being an organizer at Cosplay Mania, so that he could go back to being a cosplayer. He told me the story why he became  involved in organizing cosplay events. He said, "Kung gusto mo ng pagbabago sa sistema, wag kang dada ng dada sa social media; kumilos ka." Back then, people who are just wearing clothes for cosplay didn't have a chance to win cosplay competitions. A lot of people were ranting about it on cosplay.ph, where he is an active member who eventually became an admin. He was invited then to be an organizer in Cosplay Mania, where he and the team gradually brought change in the Philippine cosplay scene. Now that he has achieved his goals, he's back to cosplaying. He even said that organizers in these events don't have that much chance of enjoying the event and focusing on their cosplays themselves, what with all the work they need to do for the event. Awww.
