4/9/26.
This is one of those releases that I'll grow to cherish more and more over time. Dagmar Zuniga (New York) has made an album that sounds like it comes from the folk tradition, but it goes in so many different directions that it doesn't really fit that label. So while I could throw out Nico or Vashti Bunyan as a touchstones, I can easily also say I hear tones of Cindy Lee.
Zuniga collaborates with Austyn Wohlers (Tomato Flower) and Zach Phillips (Fievel Is Glaque, Blanche Blanche Blanche) to great results. And I'm sure her Nicaraguan-American roots along with the fact that this album was recorded in Norway, Athens (Georgia) as well as New York informs this varied sound.
This is released on AD 93, but there is also a version on Rough Trade. It was originally released last year on People's Coalition of Tandy.
