Under Tangled Silence, his first album in six years and a record of a literal creative rebirth. Felix originally began it in earnest in 2020 Covid lockdown, but a catastrophic hard-drive meltdown destroyed almost all his work and sent him close to psychic collapse himself. Two new Burial singles that are respectively both more fun and more meditative, if not particularly groundbreaking. ‘Claustro’ sees the elusive producer going more electro, verging on party music. It’s a bit cheesy, but it’s one of Burial’s most mobile and upbeat tunes in years; layered and rewarding. ‘State Forest’, on the other hand, is merely eight minutes of almost pure ambience; proof that Burial is, and always has been, just as important an ambient producer as a dubstep/garage one.

In a few hours from now, James Blake, that renowned musical savant that just about everyone I know respects and loves, will be releasing his recently announced new album ASSUME FORM. In fact, in some places around the world, it’s probably out already. The new full length is a star studded affair, featuring the likes of Travis Scott, André 3000, ROSALÍA, Moses Sumney & Metro Boomin.
