Cinemaps is out tomorrow!! Just sayin’! And I’ll be doing an Instagram Live via Quirk’ Instagram - so follow @quirkbooks on the ‘gram! Tune in at 2PM ET, ask a Q, get an A, discuss movies, art, life . . . and I’ll be doing a little painting live.
The movie map book is coming this fall, October 24th - CINEMAPS: An Atlas of 35 Great Movies from Quirk Books! All the old movie maps, and lots of new ones, with truly amazing essays by A.D. Jameson. This book is the product of years of work for me so I’m pretty jazzed to see this come to fruition as a collection. And while I mention it in the Intro and Acks - I really want to say thanks to the people who supported this crazy ongoing movie map project over the past 6 (!?) years by reblogging, buying prints and paintings, and writing me emails. This whole thing was about as organic as it gets, and that’s pretty darn sweet. More info to come in the coming weeks!
Happy birthday to Cinemaps, my bouncing baby of a book, out today in bookstores and online everywhere! Thanks to everyone who worked on it @quirkbooks , and especially the essays of the brilliant @adjameson . You’re a mad titan of both film and words, thank you so much. Thanks to all the people who bought prints and paintings over years and supported the work. And thanks to my family and friends, and most of all my wife (you’re the best) for cheerleading this thing for years. Life is good, books are great, everything is perfect.
And I will not ever apologize, and I will not ever say I’m sorry. And I will be sorry, but I will not say it, and I will not show it, and I will become just like a magnificent work of art, irrational, inscrutable, inexplicable, and I will never stop.
A.D. Jameson
