i haven't been following anything Too closely, but while i think the changes to the ost and voice acting and everything will take some getting used to, revival still very much looks and sounds like persona 4. i don't think it needs to be 1:1 with the original or golden, and i also don't think it's a mortal sin to retranslate and clean up ~iconic~ lines, especially when they may be somewhat dated/under more scrutiny now. in my opinion, catering too heavily to what fans want to stay intact can hold everything back and i'm hesitantly pleased to see that they aren't afraid to make significant changes.

#ada speaks #i dislike the (inconsistent) characterization in a lot of the english dialogue #and i think that bias really affected a lot of what we have accepted at face value for Years #we'll see though there's no way to judge a script in full until release #i also think it's kind of funny to see people defending yosuke mischaracterization i didn't know was eng loc specific #i just singled out inconsistencies and rejected what i considered golden's mischaracterization #i know teddie's character really suffered getting hit with the perv beam #assuming they're keeping golden's added content it will be interesting to see a unified script handled by one loc team #not sure what the situation is over there at SoA rn but i Hope they have the resources to properly re-tl + re-loc #rather than broken telephoning it like they did 'improving' the english script #and i also don't have a problem with revival making yosuke 'less gay'
