Draft
Before starting on my finial artwork I decided to draft a small scale. First I taped a small piece of plastic to my window, using it to easily tract the lines of the house next door.
I then used machine sewing to over lap on the tracing, finishing with a small, stitched house. The size dosent allow the detail I want and finishes in a messy, crowded look, so for the finial I will use a bigger scale.
Week 6 studio work + form experiment
Inspired by the work of Joshua Allan-harris in his kinetic sculpture "ice bear" which I researched for my assessment, I experimented with a similar use of form.
Using tracing paper and masking tape to hold shale instead of a fan, my work also hung from the room with wool- however this created a much more morbid aplearence. The lack of natural movement caused my work to be less lifefull, and in turn very basic.
I've played around with 3D works and sculptures in the base and for my final work I would like to focus more on 2 dimension artworks. I would need to allow movement in shape instead of relying on form, to properly express nature.

Interested in the uncanny and manifestations of online debris or waste and how visual coherence can be kindled thru the uneasy / unsettling.
there’s something really funny about being ultra crass with this software, bc i find it really hard to use. Takes me like an hour to set everything up just to write ‘big fuck’ and draw a dick.
is a joke play on the old ‘wear ur <3 on ur sleeve’ --> perhaps one way to assign identity is to just write it?
ADAD 1002- Ass 1 poster
The poster that I have made features the use of remixing to create a piece that questions the nature of rebellion against norms and conventions in art. Through it, I explore how rebellions do not always have to be vocal and can be thoughts instilled in and reflected through our behavior and interests. As such, I have decided to create a poster which rebels silently, without being vocal or in effect recognized as such (cannot be canonized).
As part of the rebellion against popular contemporary art that we learn and study at schools and at university, as well as those that are constantly being displayed at galleries, is the avenue of art that is practiced by many artists today. This includes the continued popularity of arts and crafts, which is what my poster consists of, as well as more classical art styles including the renaissance period and biblical art.
Following this, I used images that featured an Italian Renaissance self-portrait by Sofonisba Anguissola ‘self protrait at easel painting’, ‘Light of the World’ by Holman Hunt and images of the 3 wise men from charity greeting cards.
Sofonisba in her work as an artist was rebelling against society’s view of women artists, setting a precedent for women to be accepted as students of art.
Homan Hunt’s artwork was a rebellion against the academic style of art during his time. Along with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, they wanted to purify art, with inspirations from late medieval period, and early renaissance art with acute attention to detail.
Lastly, the postcard of the 3 wise men, is an embodiment of the arts and crafts movement of the 20th century, where many creative practitioners still use similar techniques.
The technique I used follows the cutting of a printed image, with different layers stacked upon each other with foam tape according to the perspective of the image. This creates a 3-dimensional effect as the viewer can see the different layers, with paper craft being a popular practice.
I also chose a size more akin to an A3 due to the fact that I wanted a hard back board, as well as the original plan for the whole thing to be interactive which it still is but only in the center image that gives added attention towards the images while covering the words. (A2 would make it too hard to manage).
I chose the first topic “Art and design often explore relationships between humans and non-humans, the environment and ecology. ” as my poster. This picture is stitched together by three different pictures, the sky as the background with the pregnant and the unborn baby, the sun, the moon and the baby's feet stand on the soil. The theme of the first topic is around human and nature. As m y understand that human and nature are inseparable from the most basic necessities, such as water, food, sunshine, sleep，and oxygen. These are the things we need from nature from birth to adulthood. This picture is about an unborn baby and his mother enjoying the gift of nature, breathing the air and enjoying the sunshine and natural food. Through this poster, I want to tell everyone not to forget gratitude and protection in addition to enjoying what nature brings. Because these things are limited in the total use of the day, children represent the future and hope. 370,000 babies are born every day around the world. My poster design is about hope and future. In order to create a better natural environment, education should be started from childhood. There will be more beautiful sky and plants in the future. The baby's feet begin to grow on the soil to give the audience something to think about. The growth of plants is just like the growth of human beings. It also needs careful care to grow up. We should be patient with our natural environment. Only in this way can people and nature live in harmony.

Concept Statement Assessment Task 2
Further developing my questioning of "what would the human body begin to look like if the human race was to become domesticated by technology?", which was conceived from the topic of how art and design often explore relationships between humans and non-humans, the environment and ecology, my artwork for assessment task 2 seeks to take the initial concept drawings from assessment task 1 and realize these ideas in the third dimension.
This artwork was produced through a series of experimentation that led to the final sculpture. I chose to begin researching and experimenting through practice led research as in the past I have found that I have hindered my creative process when beginning by imagining concepts and therefore the final artwork's conceptual elements are directly related to the methods of production. This decision to create a sculpture was made through my initial research and experimentation for the first assessment task where I began to play around with 3d modeling software. The modeling and editing process of the 3d modeling software made me think of the idea of replication and mass manufacture, as in a world where machines are dominant over humans this would surely be a factor to consider.
I chose to represent my concept of how the human body would change if the human race was domesticated by technology with the skull because it would create a continuity link between my previous assessment and this one but also because of its iconic bone structure and links to other theories involving domestication. As people become dependent on machines to function it could get to the point where they are relied upon for even the process of reproduction. This sculpture is an imagined machine made human skull.
The skull features an enlarged mouth, ears and eyes as well as augmentation to the jaw's structure with an emphasis on the teeth. These features are enlarged as they are intended to show how peoples interaction with technology is dependent on sensations like sight, sound and touch. In imagining a society that is dominated by technology I gathered some artistic license and imagined that as technology and machines domesticated people that our food supply would become generated by them and would be given in liquid form, as an efficient way to develop and deliver it. This is reflected by the changes made to the structure of the teeth, with a large hole in between the front four and a simplified structure for the rest as a result.
The low poly look was decided upon because it simplifies the object and makes it quicker to produce as well as giving the sculpture a futuristic and eerie aesthetic quality.
Reflecting on the artmaking process of this assignment I regret not foreseeing how time consuming the casting and printing processes took as I forgot to factor in curing times for casting and did not leave much room for error. I am disappointed that the skull model was not able to be cast in aluminum like I had intended however I believe that the raw PLA material from the 3d printer works better in line with the original concept for the artwork which was to reflect a manufacturing process done by machines.
