A socialite who wants to be alone || Ada & James
James walked through the aisles of filled shelves, his hand running along the bindings of the books absentmindedly. He didn’t have any destination in mind, he was simply wandering. Honestly, he was sort of in hiding. Between Albus knowing more than he’d like, the whole words/feelings on everyone’s chest debacle, the agreement to study dates with his ex Nicaisse, he was kind of a mess of a human being. On top of everything, he had managed to knock his baby cousin out of the sky with a bludger and still felt terrible for him. The year just was not going well so far. So, he had retreated to the library for a while to wander in silence and it was actually helping quite a bit.
He chose a book at random - “Slugs and their Many Magical Uses” - and headed out to find a chair. James made his way past the more common area, straight to the back of the room and off to a corner he knew well. His goal was to get out of sight of the door and most prying eyes in the room. Unfortunately, someone was seated at the best table in the room for this purpose. He looked around and there seemed to be no other options available to him. Another problem, that wasn’t necessary a problem, is that the girl wasn’t familiar to him and she didn’t see to know or care that he was approaching. He leaned back against one of the shelves and lightly drummed his fingertips against the book cover. There was the option of going to find some quiet space on a floor somewhere or another spot in the castle but he still risked the getting bothered by a cousin, friend, sibling, or whoever. It was a much more attractive option to go and sit with the dark haired girl, who didn’t look particularly cruel or that she would bite.
James walked over to the table. He pulled the chair across from the other occupant and, as quiet as possible, he sat down and scooted the chair up to the table. The book he chose and didn’t plan to read, he opened up and placed down in front of him. “Hi” he whispered and offered up a smile. “I’m James Potter. Is it okay that I sit here with you?” He extended a hand to shake hers in greeting and hoped she didn’t ask him to leave.
