               ‘LEVEL TWENTY - ONE COMPLETED.  STATUS: PASSED.’

      And barely passed at that.  Shoulders heaving and body trembling, frustration faintly twisting her lips.  Utterly focused on the battle, aware of nothing else, and still struggling.  Normally she could reach THIRTY before she felt this exhausted ( evidently, her body had not yet recovered from the wormhole created, nor the battle that occurred just after it ) and the princess finds herself FRUSTRATED ( too kind a word, that ) by the weakness she now spills.  Her body begs for her to CEASE but she cannot allow it.  She needs to be stronger ------ she NEEDS to be able to protect them.

                                                Allura readies her staff for the next level --- though body rebels against abuse.  One leg gives and she buckles to her knee, a muttered curse passing her lips as her free hand meets the ground.  WEAKER THAN SHE’D THOUGHT.  

                                  “Stop the simulation,” she calls breathlessly into the empty space of the training room, and her opponents stop and cease.  A shaky breath rattles her ribcage; eyes squeeze shut as she pounds a fist into the smooth metal flooring --- an expression of exasperation.  “QUIZNAK.”

There are, and he knows that there are, but his heart does not tread gently and he does not know the art of subtlety. He has always been brash, has always followed his instincts to the point of it becoming a hindrance to him, many a time. Any softness which he has has been worn away with constant and never ending worry. It has become a part of him, a shivering sort of thing, molding against his bones. His edges have sharpened and perhaps there is no softness left to him. But now, face to face with a good man that he had accepted would DIE, he can feel a distant sort of relief. Not to mention a lot of confusion. How strange a combination. ❝ I barely made it out —— ❞ it is not VANITY but rather pragmatic thinking that drives that statement, ❝ I can’t imagine what you had to do. ❞

          There are ------ a myriad of ways Allura has failed ( and she is aware of each and every one ).  Her prejudice, while not perhaps FOOLISH, had nevertheless almost driven from her a member of her FAMILY.  Caused her to all - but mock the death of an ally, given to save.  Perhaps the princess ( of what? your empire has fallen, your people are dead ) will never grow to trust them easily, but she MUST be better than she was.  She MUST be more.

                       “I am --------- glad you’ve survived.”  She is, for all her hatred.  “From what Keith told me, he didn’t seem to expect you would.”
