A cold riverfront is reflected by a mirror against an element worn blue wall. The frame of the mirror is covered with text from magazine clippings, meaningless empty words. Our gaze of this cold blue world is restricted. We are denied peace. We avert our eyes from one point to another, but its useless.
With this picture I wanted to try and articulate depression in a unique visual way. The idea of this picture is that there is no focus points of relief. Everything in the picture is designed to be either unpleasant, or cold. First of all, I changed the colour temperature to cold to make the entire picture feel cold. Then I changed the wall colours to an unpleasant grayish blue, and changed the water colour to a very cold blue as well. The magazine clippings that I added to the picture are words, and slogans from various magazines advertisements. The words have no real significance on a whole, their intention is to add to the depressive atmosphere. The hollow words of advertising converging on the reflection of a sad cold day.
