Title: Adam Mulligan's Day Off
Author: huntinghellhound
Word Count: 914
Original Imagine/Request/Summary: Can I request an Adam one shit where he's out of hell and has adjusted to the bunker but the reader thinks since he looked down that he's forgotten how to have fun so she makes him slide on the floor in his socks with her, play video games, blow bubbles and have paper airplane wars and stuff and he admits he wasn't down, he just didn't know how to gang out with her because he hadn't hung out with anyone in so long let lane someone he was starting to really like?
Trigger Warnings: Cursing Fic:
You sat in your chair quiet as a fox, and your mind as busy as a hooker in New York on Valentine’s Day. You stared at the boy across from you who was giving every ounce of his concentration to a flimsy crossword puzzle from the fifties that had picked up somewhere in the bunker. His face was bland, expressing little emotion. He wasn’t even aware of your intense, almost unnaturally focused glare on himself. His blonde hair stood out against the dark fabric that covered the chair that he was perched in. His blue eyes pierced the paper booklet as he searched for the answers in the puzzle, never looking up towards you. He had lived in the bunker for a couple months now and he even arrived around the same time as you, but he hardly ever spoke a word. Did he ever converse with Sam and Dean? Sure, they even had a fantasy league football team going on, but did he ever even share a single thought with you? No. Well, except for the occasional ‘hi’ and ‘have you seen the toilet paper’. You didn’t know what his problem was, but it felt like it was something against you, and you couldn’t stand it. “Have I done something to you?” You harshly asked, not breaking your vision of him. His eyes slowly drifted upwards and poured into yours, his face not changing it’s disposition. You swallowed hard at the tension in the area, immediately regretting your decision to speak up.
“What do you mean?” He quietly asked as he sat himself in the seat normally.
“All you do is mope around here when the boys go on a hunt. You have me to talk to, but I guess I’m not good enough to have a football team with, huh? I’m human, too. I’m not some creature who lives to walk around all day and not be talked to except to deliver the occasional nagging when needed. I’m a-,”
“Complainer?” He shot out, cutting off, well, your complaint. You dropped your mouth open in shock at his abrupt rudeness, but a wave of satisfactory also washed over you at getting him to talk. “Listen, I’m not trying to ignore you. I’m really not. I just… I just don’t feel comfortable talking to people anymore, okay? I knew Sam and Dean before I went into the pit; that’s why I talk to them. I don’t know you and it’s been a while since I’ve talked to someone like you,” he explained, his eyes looking down as his head turned a little towards the ground, hearing his own worries spoken aloud.
“Adam, if you would have just told me that I would have understood,” you tried to comfort. You stood from your seat and eased yourself onto the armrest of his velvet chair. He closed his puzzle and pulled slightly away to give you more space to sit as he looked up at you, wonder filling his eyes. “If there’s anything I have learned over my lifetime, it’s that when you embarrass yourself in front of someone, you feel a whole lot closer to them,” You stood once again and pried your shoes from your feet, revealing bare socks as you ran away from the chair, giving yourself some room. “Watch and learn,”
You started to run across the open room where there were no chairs or desks that could possibly get in your way. As soon as your feet picked up enough speed and traction you stopped moving your legs, and let the inertia carry your body before you fumbled and hit the ground, your bottom breaking your fall. You grunted as you fell and felt a small frown form from the discomfort, but it quickly faded as you soon realized it had actually gotten Adam to laugh. He was trying to hide his chuckle with his hands, but you could still see the laugh lines forming around his mouth. “Okay. Now, it’s your turn,” You ordered as you set your body back on its feet and waited. He glared at you for a moment, then decided to take action and remove his own shoes. He got up from the chair and positioned himself at your original starting point. He hiked his pants up jokingly turning them into high waters, and then got into the stance of a star athlete as he took off and ran at full speed, soon letting his feet be his wheels. It was all fun and giggles until Adam couldn’t slow himself down, and his body crashed into yours, resulting in you both collapsing, his body on top of yours. “I told you it would bring us closer,” You giggled while he chuckled along with you, peeling his body from yours.
“I’m sorry for acting so distant all these months. The only conversations I was used to were with my brothers and archangels who constantly bitch,” He admitted with a small laugh that showed he was kidding. “Thanks, Y/N. You might make this whole ‘bunker lockdown’ kind of bearable,”
You gave him a victorious grin, satisfied that you finally made the silent man talk. It was little battles like this that made your bunker lockdown easy to deal with. You hit your hand across his leg as you stood up and he grabbed your hand to follow your lead. “Sam has an X Box in his room. Wanna go play?”
“Depends,”
“On what?” “If you’re prepared to lose,”
