Star Wars Alien Species - Adarian

Adari was a mountainous, volcanic planet located in the Inner Rim's Adari sector. It was the homeworld of the sentient Adarians, although archaeologists believed evidence pointed to the species not being native to the planet. The earliest Adarians on Adari spread outward from a single region of the planet, already having a single shared culture by the time.

Such cultural homogeneity among the Adarians allowed the species to rapidly develop ore mining and smelting and atomic-fission industries and technologies. A planet-wide corporate government was formed, and the species came to be divided by a rigid caste system.

Eventually, the Adarians expanded outward into the Adari system, and the discovery of hyperdrive technology led to the species controlling the entire Adari sector.

Discovered circa 25,000 BBY, the Adarians swiftly became a member state of the Galactic Republic. Remaining loyal to the Republic through the Clone Wars, the planet bought neutrality during the Galactic Civil War by supplying the Galactic Empire with extensive resources and retained a seat in the Imperial Senate. Located in relative proximity to Dantooine, Adarians welcomed outcast Jedi and Rebel Alliance troops earning Adari the reputation of being a "refuge planet".

Staying out of galactic affairs, the planet was annexed by Grand Admiral Thrawn during his campaigns against the New Republic. When the Imperial Remnant was finally driven from the core, the Adarians joined the Republic, only to be cut off with the invasion by the Yuuzhan Vong in 26 ABY. When the Republic retook Coruscant and reorganized into the Galactic Alliance, the Adarians quickly joined. Remaining neutral in future wars, the species' homeworld was a member of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire as of 137 ABY.

Adarian society was based around a rigid caste system known as sceel'sara. Their governmental headquarters was the Hall of Decisions from which the upper tier of society had absolute control over those in lower classes. Operating a corporation-like government, the Adarians boasted that their society had never suffered from civil strife. They had unique, advanced Carbon-Ice Drive technology which they developed before contact with the Galactic Republic. Their native language was Adarese, a written and spoken language; speaking Galactic Basic Standard was difficult for the lipless species and was spoken with a heavy accent. Adarian naming conventions included a first name and a family name.

A humanoid species of mammalians, the Adarians had elongated skulls made distinct by the large hole which penetrated it. Lacking ears and noses, their skulls were covered in fine hairs which were very sensitive to sound waves, and their skin was underlaid by glands that allowed them to detect odors. Sharp, bony ridges around their mouths substituted for lips seen in other species. The Adarians had distendable throat pouches; elongating them to emit a loud subsonic call which helped in communication over long distances, reaching over 20 kilometers. They come in a variety of vibrant skin colors, commonly blue or yellow. Members of the same caste tend to have a similar coloration.

Adults stand about 1.7 meters or 5.6 feet tall.

Adarians age at the following stages:

1 - 13 Child

14 - 18 Young Adult

19 - 44 Adult

45 - 55 Middle Age

56 - 64 Old

Examples of Names: Ador Beldune, Denka Melru, Luur Tenefor, Yeeru Meekel.

Languages: Adarians speak Adarese, a language that uses largely tonal inflections. Their rigid mouths make languages such as Basic difficult to speak without a heavy accent.

Ella se había ido de compras con sus amigas, cuyos rostros no podía recordar, no tenían importancia. Su atención se había centrado solamente en ella. Su pelo rubio había sido el color de la luz del sol y sus grandes ojos azules, al igual que un cielo perfecto, pero había sido su preciosa risa la que había roto el hielo de su interior, tan llena de vida, tan dulce. Ella lo había capturado en un instante y lo dejó indefenso, había estado tan enamorado de ella que incluso se había matriculado en su escuela y se hizo pasar por un estudiante. Todo por verla, aunque fuera de lejos, durante más de un año era todo lo que había hecho. Sentado en soporíferas clases sólo para poder estar en la misma habitación que ella, como una flor desesperada para llegar a la luz del sol a través de las grietas irregulares de una fracturada pared. Él ni siquiera había intentado conversar con ella, no había valido la pena. Y entonces, un día, milagrosamente, se había fijado en él mientras se sentaba detrás de ella en una clase de historia. Todos los días después de eso, ella torpemente entraba en la habitación a hablar con él antes de la campana como si fuera un chico normal. 🌷 : Does your OC have any collections? What of? Any reason why?

Ad doesn’t have proper collections (as in, a type of object he’s trying to collect every type of), but the closest he has to a collection is his books : they are everywhere in his room. Court duties can be quite overwhelming, especially on someone young, so books have been his way of relaxing and escaping since he was a child. At the time of the story, he still has many of them and keeps on reading when he can, even now that dancing took a much bigger place in his life.

🌾 : what is your oc’s favourite food?

In Karella, there is a type of delicacy called shaziri that consist of a kind of sauce (of your choosing, there are a lot of possibilities) held in a cup, and you dip a bunch of roasted shrimps in it. It’s very popular since the waters of the River are infested with shrimps a little further south from the city. Ad’s favourite sauce is the ‘sweet and sour’ one, unlike Jahzara who’s all about the spice and loves the hot one XD

🌺 : what is your oc’s formal wear like ?

Ouuuuh this is a great one, I love imagining outfits for all my characters. Okay so Adarian is a prince, the heir of the throne, so of course his formal wear is dazzling.

(I apologize in advance for the absolute lack of clothing vocabulary, I love clothes but I never bothered to check any technical terms so my word range is limited 😅)

He has many formal outfits but usually he’s dressed in electric blue, top + trousers + cape. The top has loose sleeves that tighten just above the wrists, and the two main folds are crossed on the chest so it makes a V-neck ; it’s embroidered with gold swirls and symbols. The trousers are of the same style, loose but tightened above the ankles. Finally the cape is heavier than the rest of the clothing, and usually darker too - more royal blue than electric, because of course - and it’s held in place by a golden brooch and lined with scales of sandwing (a kind of golden lizard living in the desert that also has wings to fly from a dune to another ; its scales are very expensive, almost exclusively bought by the royal family, and also incredibly light). And he usually wears jewelry with all that, rings with sapphires and bracelets and rings around his ankles and earrings (Anderell is known for its jewelers and the style is quite feminine, even for men accessories).

Jahzara : you always manage to get yourself in impossible situations, and the only times you don’t, it’s because I’m around and I actually have a plan in mind. If I didn’t plan the things we do together, I wonder where we’d be. Without me, you’d probably be in jail to be honest.

Adarian : i can’t be arrested! I’m royalty ;)

Jahzara : then I’ll arrest you myself. You deserve it.

14. How well would you do robbing a bank together?

Adarian : pretty well, I guess, since I could easily waltz in there, tell them to give me all their money, and leave through the same way I came in with my pockets full! I’m the prince, I can do whatever I want!

Jahzara : Honey, do you remember what I said about arresting you?

Adarian : oh, don’t lie, you’d enjoy robbing a bank. You may not look like it, but I know you’d love to stick a knife under people’s throats and threatening them.

Jahzara :... yes. Ok. But we’re STILL not doing it, got it mister ?

Adarian : Crystal clear.

Lotus on the River – Character Intros : Jahzara & Adarian

Jahzara (MC) –– The Golden Dancer

general info : 19 y-o, cis she/her (the story is told from her POV in first person)

appearance : dark tanned skin, waist-long wavy long hair usually kept in a braid, warm dark brown eyes, soft features ; not very tall, but she's a Dancer and you can see & feel it in her stance and steps (the Artbreeder is quite accurate)

family : twin sister (Jophiel), older brother (Jereviah), mother (Junia)

past : born in Karella, took up dancing while being very young and has done nothing else all her life ; she now has the highest position a Dancer could have in Karella, which is the Heir's partner and teacher; nor her or either of her siblings know the identity of their father, they suspect the twin's and Jereviah might even have different fathers

personality : mentally resistant, calm and collected, she doesn't like to be the centre of attention unless she's dancing ; witty and generally joyous, but can become stubborn and iron-willed when it comes to protecting her loved ones – especially Adarian, in the light of the events of the story ; she doesn't like fighting and war and wants nothing to do with it, even though she trains with Adarian and Kianos in case she needs it one day, and she hates lies, come they from her mouth or someone else's ; she also seems to have a quite close connection to the River, but cannot understand why

Adarian –– The Deceived Prince

general info : 24 years old, cis he/him

appearance : tanned skin, shiny black shoulder-long hair, dark brown eyes, quite handsome (usually has a 'yes-i-woke-up-looking-this-good expression on his face) ; medium height, trained in both dancing and fighting (again, the Artbreeder is quite accurate)

family : a little sister (Aysel), mother (Alcyone) and father (Ahmaden VI) who are King and Queen of Anderell

past : Adarian and Aysel grew up under Kianos (Adarian's bodyguard and a retired general, forced to leave the army due to the loss of one eye) and the royal healer Mama Tani's care, he looked over his sister who felt quite lonely ; Kianos started training him to combat around the same time he took up dancing, so he often mixes the two in his stance and movements.

personality A "Adarian" : very fun and energetic with his friends and sister, radiating happiness, shining like a sun ; he loves dancing until exhaustion, and likes to sparr with Kianos. Although, DO NOT CROSS HIM. YOU WILL REGRET IT. personality B "the prince" : he shuts every slip of himself away when he's doing court duties, becomes calm and observant, polite, cold as metal, doesn't show one scrap of emotion.
