4 months since the last posting but there have been Lets Get Lost shows every week. You've been following along, of course, or at least catching up on the archives, right?
This post-Guelph Jazz Fest edition featured a couple of recordings that were still warm from...well, I guess they don't press CDs', but these fresh items were accurate representations of the shows we saw at the beginning and end of the festival.
Beautiful Tool is the Mary Margaret O'Hara and Peggy Lee collaboration that delighted and truly entertained the packed house on Wed. night.
Going All Fancy is the work of duo of Brotzman and Adasiewicz that seemed an unlikely pairing on paper but worked well in a push and shove sort of way.The physical and aggressive performance was much needed at 2am Sun. morning.
In between was a series of highs of the sort that we've come to expect from the GJF, but not take for granted. Check out fellow No Wrong Notes witness, "Zig Zag Wanderer" for a more complete review of some highlights.
I would add that the Matt Shipp/ Darius Jones show cemented my respect for them both and expanded on the beautiful and powerful themes sketched out on their album, Cosmic Lieder.
And we continue to celebrate the shear joy to be found on our album of the summer...The Cherry Thing!
We'll have some live music on the next edition of Lets Get Lost and more in the weeks to come. Tune in to the archives any old time...www.cfru.ca Tues. at 8pm
