FairBlocker Update
via twitter the FairBlocker people got ahold of me and clarified some of the points brought up in the reddit thread I linked to.
1. The $500 Barrier for Contact was a typo. The initial Revenue Barrier (at the time FairBlocker launched) was $100 before they would reach out to the website owner. 2. They have plans in place to LOWER that barrier to $50 for small, independent websites so that the people who need it the most, but who are unaware of the addon/extension can get the ad revenue they so desperately need.

Abdlock Plus - A useful browser add-on/extension that strips ads out of web pages you go to and videos you watch. It uses a maintained set of filters that has always excluded some smaller web sites from having their ads blocked. Now they've allowed large companies to pay to get past the filters.
If you've noticed that even with Adblock running you still see sponsored results on Google, here's how to fix it. Click on your Adblock Icon, and choose Filter preferences. Uncheck the box that says Allow some non-intrusive advertising.
The next time you go to a page that paid to get past the filter, it still filters them.
