Maggie: Oh my god I’m so sorry Lady Jane I didn’t mean it I’m sorry I wasn’t watching my feet-
Jane: Maggie, love, it’s okay!
Maggie: No I should have been watching where I was going I should have been watching my feet I would never have done this if I was just paying attention Lady Jane you know I would never disrespect you I was just clumsy oh my god I’m so sorry are you okay did I hurt you-
Jane: Honey, I’m fine.
Maggie: You’re not fine???
Jane: No that’s not what I-
Maggie, speaking at a hundred miles per hour: Oh my god oh my god oh my god Lady Jane I’m so so sorry I can’t believe what I’ve done I’m so stupid I should have just been looking where I was going now you’re hurt and it’s all my fault oh my god I’m sorry I’m so useless and stupid I hurt one of the queens now the show will get canceled and everyone will lose their jobs and be homeless all because of me oh god please cut off my foot it’s the only thing I can do for you without making things worse
Jane: Maggie-
Maggie: CUT OFF MY FOOT LADY JANE
Jane, frantically trying to calm her: BESSIE YOUR CHILD IS HAVING A MELTDOWN
Jane: Maggie, I have some questions about symptoms on destructive ADD.
Maggie: You’ve showered too recently. Go put on some dirty clothes and wallow in them like the disgusting rat you are. Hygiene takes a lot of energy and nobody has time for that.
Maggie: Isolate yourself from friends and family. Remind yourself that they’ll be happier without you bothering them.
Maggie: You don’t have an eating disorder, but you still shouldn’t eat. Even when you’re off your medications. Drink your weight in water and then consider it good for a whole month. Even better- dehydrate.
Maggie: Biting and scratching and pulling hair is the best form of stimming. Screw all the other ones.
Maggie: Nobody can hate your more than you already hate yourself. Unless you have RSD. Then everyone hates you. Nobody likes you, no matter what they say. Nothing will ever be good enough-
Jane: Yes, but how do you convince someone with destructive ADD not to do those things?
Maggie: I dunno. Invite them out? Allow them to join group activities? Show them love and affection?
Jane: I see.
Jane: Maggie, we’re going to be watching a movie soon and I’m warming up seven blankets in the dryer. There’s also another plate of dinner for you. Would you like to join us?
I just had an idea and I wanted to see if you would write it? Headcanons or one shot are fine. Anne, Kat, and Maggie have a sleepover together! The chaotic trio.
this concept is 12/10 anon thank you
I’m gonna do headcanons for now, but this’ll definitely be fun to write at some point 👀👀
• Maggie goes over to the queen’s house because it’s bigger and Bessie kinda scares Katherine
• Maggie climbs through the window
• This takes two tries
• She falls the first time
• It’s okay though she just hits the bushes
• Literally everyone heard her scream when she fell
• She scrambles up and scales the house so fast the second time because she doesn’t want the others coming outside and seeing her
• Once she’s in Anne’s room, Jane enters immediately and goes “Its a pleasure to have you, Maggie! You can use the front door next time”
• Maggie’s ADD kinda acts up at the queen’s house but it’s okay
• They’re all very nice about it
• Like Parr calls Maggie out on how she looks at her mouth and not her eyes and Maggie’s entire face turns red as she says “Oh, it’s something Bessie is working on with me. She told me to try and focus on someone’s lips if I’m having trouble following along”
• Nobody minds though
• Cleves had to repeat the sentence “Do you want beet roots?” five times because Maggie apparently went deaf the first four times
• To be fair, though, Cleves was laughing after the second repeat so
• Everyone thought it was really funny
• Maggie couldn’t stop whispering “beet roots” to herself for the rest of the night
• Okay anyway!
• After dinner Maggie, Anne, and Kitty all play some video games because they’re fun
• Maggie destroys the cousins at Smash
• Maggie: I go Pokémon Trainer. I play to win.
• Half of the time Kitty falls off the edge and doesn’t have enough time to jump back up
• They play multiplayer Stardew Valley and Anne took the time to hide all of Maggie and Kat’s stuff all over the map
• Also Tomb Raider! They play that too
• Five minutes in and Lara has been impaled by a rebar. When the game instructs to pull it out, Anne, who was the one playing at the moment, was like “ME?!”
• Kitty kept going “Ow...Ow...Ow...” and wincing like she was the one with a piece of metal lodged in her side
• She has to look away a lot because there’s many dead bodies
• Maggie throws a blanket over her head at the part where Lara gets touched by that one guy so Kitty doesn’t notice what’s going on
• Maggie is the best as combat, so she usually takes control during the fights while Anne explores. Kitty wants to watch most of the time and comment on what’s going on
• When Lara gets caught in a bear trap and has to fight a pack of wolves, Maggie looks away
• Especially since Anne fucking died the first time and got Lara’s throat ripped out by a wolf
• Maggie’s okay though! She isn’t gonna let her fear ruin this night for her
• Kitty keeps track of how many times Lara gets injured
• “How is she not dead????”
• Since checking boxes and lighting a torch are the exact same button, half of the time Anne accidentally makes Lara light a fire instead of checking for loot
• It gets on her nerves
• The death cutscenes are so fucking wild
• Lara: *literally gets impaled through the throat*
Anne, Maggie, and Kitty:
• And also
• Game: *gargled screaming because some guy just got his tongue cut out*
Them:
• Open Wounds was the best part of the game
• When the rebar wound opened up again and if you jump around too much Lara will die
• Anne killed her like this
• Lara: *painfully cauterizes her wound*
These three idiots: 👀👀👀
• Okay so after playing games they go up to Anne’s room because it’s bigger than Kitty’s
• They decide to keep the Tomb Raider theme going and watch the new reboot
• They thought it was amazing (IT WAS OKAY DONT @ ME)
• Maggie has a big gay crush on Lara Croft
• Anne wants to play truth or dare afterwards to they do
• Maggie: Katherine, truth or dare
Katherine: Truth!
Maggie: Do you think cannibalism could solve overpopulation and world hunger
Katherine: Can I choose dare instead
• They finally go to bed at four in the morning
• Lmao Maggie wakes up at six though and doesn’t know what to do
• Cleves’ jacket? S,,,scratchy?!?! No no no no no no no no no no no don’t,,,don’t wanna touch!!!!
• Drinks 5 hour energy to burn herself out and sleep
• It’s not healthy but
• She doesn’t take care of her body
• So prone to sensory overloads
• Secretly hates Haus of Holbein and the MegaSix but don’t tell anyone
• Joan: We’ll come pick you up at 6:30!
Joan: *still not here by 6:31*
Maggie: It’s my fault. I failed. They hate me. I knew this would happen. I knew they never liked me. I’m a burden. They did it out of pity. They want nothing to with me. I’m pathetic.
Can I have the fic where Maggie wakes up early and bonds with Jane
some sweet sweet hurt/comfort with Jane and some kid with ADD that is technically her daughter now :)
———————
Maggie wasn’t sure what woke her up- her brain not wanting to stay asleep any longer or the buzz in her head. Probably both.
It took everything in Maggie not to groan out loud when she realized that buzz was an oncoming migraine. Of course. Why did she think her luck would hold out for the entirety of the sleepover?
She sat up and rubbed her eyes. She was on the floor, nestled in a burrow of blankets, while Anne and Katherine were strewn on the bed. When she checked her phone, she saw that it was 6:27 in the morning. They had all fallen asleep at four.
Footsteps made Maggie perk up a little. They were a little distant, but someone was definitely going downstairs. After waiting a few minutes, Maggie got up, too.
Simply walking down the short staircase outside the loft bedroom was difficult with Maggie’s increasingly intense headache. She stopped on the third step and had to take a deep breath before continuing on.
Luckily, the actual staircase wasn’t as difficult, as she reined in as much control as possible. When she got to the bottom step, she saw the kitchen lights on and Jane heating up a kettle on the stove. The queen smiled brightly when she noticed the girl.
“Good morning!” She chirped, “You’re up early.”
“Couldn’t sleep,” Maggie shrugged, padding across the hardwood with her fluffy socks.
Jane nodded with a hum before turning her attention back to the kettle. She kept glancing out of the corner of her eye, however, to examine the young musician.
Maggie always caught Jane’s eye. The girl was very young, but she was absolutely brilliant. Her playing was phenomenal during the shows and Jane’s heart always swelled a little when she saw her dancing to some of the songs. She just wished they had more time to bond with each other.
Perhaps that time has finally come.
“Do you have any preference for breakfast?” Jane asked.
“No, Lady Jane. Anything is fine with me.” Maggie replied quickly.
“Jane is fine, dear,” Jane chuckled, “No need to keep up the theatrics.”
Maggie frowned a little, mainly out of embarrassment, but nodded. She dipped her head, which was still pounding, a little and stared at her hands.
“Can I help you?” Maggie asked after a moment.
“Of course!” Jane said, pleasantly surprised. “You can start the eggs.”
Maggie nodded and hurried over. Moving so fast was a big mistake, as she almost careened herself into the fridge before she was able to steady herself.
Jane made friendly conversation with the girl as the two of them began to cook breakfast. However, Maggie’s migraine began to get worse and worse until she wasn’t able to pay attention at all anymore.
“Maggie? Maggie!”
Maggie reeled backwards, hissing in pain. She had no idea what Jane was yelling about until she noticed the egg in the pan was smoking. She yelped and turned off the burner. Pressing the heel of her palm against her temple, she tried to fix the mess she made, but ultimately failed as the pain got more and more intense.
There’s a warm touch around her waist and she nearly melts into it.
“Bessie?” She mumbled out of instinct.
“Jane,” Jane corrects. “Still Jane, love. It’s just me. I’ve got you.”
Something is clearly wrong with the young musician, so Jane helps her over to the couch so she can sit down. Almost instantly, Maggie puts her head in her hands, squeezing tightly as pain pulsates in her forehead
“Sorry,” Maggie panted, “God, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to-”
“Shh, shh,” Jane cooed, stroking her head comfortingly, “There’s absolutely no need to apologize, honey.”
Maggie nodded a little, then pressed harder on either sides of her skull. A strangled whimper escapes her throat and bright red burns across her face.
This couldn’t be happening. She cannot act like this in front of Jane Seymour. She has to toughen up and push through it, but-
But she can’t. It hurts too much.
“What’s wrong, love?” Jane asked, keeping her voice low.
Jane began to rub Maggie’s back and the girl practically curls up against her, head still gripped in her hands. Maternal instincts to protect flare up inside of Jane and she holds the young musician close to her.
“Would you like some painkillers?”
Maggie nodded.
“C...can you also get my medicine? I gave it to you yesterday, right?”
“Right,” Jane confirmed and she quickly got the medicine and a glass of water. Maggie darts back into her arms almost instantly and Jane can’t help but want to protect her even more. “Here.”
“Thank you,” Maggie croaked. She took her Adderall first and then the painkillers. After swallowing, she set the cup down on the floor and curled back up in Jane’s arms. “S-sorry.”
“It’s alright, honey,” Jane calms her, rubbing up and down her spine. “Not your fault. Does this happen often?”
Maggie shrugged a little. She snuggled closer.
“Usually it’s my medicine. After effects. Or just regular side effects.”
Jane frowned.
“I see.”
“You’re really warm.” Maggie suddenly mumbled. “Err- Sorry. That’s weird. I, uhh...I don’t have much impulse control without my medicine. Which is why I just took it. So it’ll take effect and I’ll have a proper filter. Hopefully. Sometimes it takes awhile to take effect, which is the worst, but I’m hoping it’ll work quickly. I don’t like myself without it. Too loud. And wild. And talkative. And clingy. And- Oh god. I’m doing all of that right now. Sorry. Wait, you told me not to apologize anymore. Sorry! Wait-!!”
Jane couldn’t help but be filled with endearment as she watched the girl adorably babble on. Her heart swells even more. She chuckled and brushed Maggie’s cheek with her finger, which the guitarist nuzzled into.
This kid is going to be the death of me.
“No worries, love,” Jane said. “No worries at all.”
Maggie nodded. Her head is still hurting, but she feels better with Jane’s presence around her. It makes her feel safe and loved. Like how Bessie made her feel.
“Thank you,” She said shyly. “You’re really nice, Lady Jane. Jane- Sorry. Damnit.”
Jane gently, affectionately ruffled the top of Maggie’s already-messy hair, making her giggle.
“Glad to see you feel safe here.” She smiled warmly. “I’m going to get back to breakfast. You’re welcome to help if you feel up to it.”
Aragon found the poor girl collapsed in one of the theater bathrooms, halfway huddled under the sink with blood oozing from a reopened bite mark in her wrist. The pure look of terror in Maggie’s eyes broke the queen’s heart and that natural motherly instinct inside of her flared, urging her to help this terrified child.
She wished she just would have gotten Bessie.
When she got close, Maggie flinching away and making a warning noise of sorts should have been enough for her to not push into her comfort zone, but Aragon’s maternal side wouldn’t let her leave. She reached out to try and get the girl to stop hurting herself, and Maggie lashed out.
In one jerky, but swift moment, Maggie is biting Aragon.
To be honest, the scene could almost be humorous if it wasn’t for the strength Maggie was clamping down with. She had the side of Aragon’s hand with the thumb in her mouth and looked as feral as a wild dog as she grinds her teeth in deeper. Aragon hissed in pain and grabbed hold of her wrist, like it would block the sensation from traveling to the rest of her body.
“What the fuck?!” She cried on instinct to the absurd action.
That only made it worse.
Any thought about releasing Aragon was now gone. All Maggie was seeing was someone who hated her, who wanted to hurt her.
She had to harm them before they harmed her.
Aragon considered pulling Maggie’s hair, but knew it wouldn’t help at all. It would also make Bessie angry, and that wasn’t something the first queen wanted to deal with right now. So, she had no other choice but to stay calm.
“Maggie,” She called out, “Maggie, let go. You’re hurting me.”
Maggie doesn’t respond. She isn’t even looking at Aragon, rather the floor with eyes too wide and too glazed over. It was like she was in a trance.
It was like she had rabies.
Aragon took a deep breath, trying to ignore the pain that kept flaring through her hand. She released the grip on her wrist and inched closer, as the current position they were both in was a little awkward because of the distance. Maggie allows it and they’re soon facing each other, with Maggie having her knees to her chest and Aragon not really caring about where her legs went because her hand was in a kid’s mouth and that’s the only thing that mattered right now.
“Maggie,” Aragon tried again, “Maggie, please let go. That hurts. That really hurts, Maggie.”
Nothing.
Pulling Maggie’s hair is back on the table, but as Aragon looks into Maggie’s eyes, she realizes the poor thing is just terrified. She was so caught up in being bitten that she hadn’t even realized how badly the girl was shaking or that she was making little whimpering noises every few seconds.
“Maggie,” Aragon said, but this time her tone is much more tender and warm. It makes Maggie finally look up a little, “Can you hear me, love?”
Maggie nods a little.
“Good. That’s good.” Aragon said, “Alright...do you think you can let go? Please?”
Maggie doesn’t respond. Her eyes flick down again. Aragon follows her gaze and realizes she’s looking at her own hand, which is bloody and bruised. The queen’s heart aches for the girl.
“Oh, love...”
She felt hot tears drip down onto her hand. Maggie screws her eyes shut, a gargled whine worming out from her throat. Just looking at her like this makes Aragon feels bad for being angry at her.
“Alright, Maggie,” Aragon said, “I just want to help you. Can I do that? Is that okay?”
Maggie hesitated and then nodded.
Aragon thinks for a moment and then extends her other hand. Maggie flinches away a little, but then pressed her head into Aragon’s palm like she was a cat seeking affection. Gently, Aragon threads her fingers through the girl’s hair, hoping the action would bring her enough comfort to calm down.
It seemed to be working. The grip on Aragon’s hand was starting to loosen little by little until the queen was able to pull herself free.
Such a jerky, sudden movement was very stupid.
Maggie bit down hard and Aragon couldn’t stop herself from crying out in pain. The fingers tangled in the girl’s hair tugged, only making it worse because that made Maggie even more frightened.
Aragon’s skin finally breaks open and blood starts to drizzle free. She watches as thin red trails drool down her flesh, and yet Maggie is still latched on like a leach. There’s visible nausea in her eyes, but she isn’t letting go.
“Maggie-” Aragon grunted, her voice pitching a little when teeth grind deeper into open flesh. “Maggie, please. You need to let go of me.”
Maggie doesn’t hear her. Or maybe she ignores her. Either way, she doesn’t listen.
Aragon was sure her thumb was going to come off if she didn’t do something quickly. She started going over ideas in her mind and they all came down to one thing.
Hurt the girl.
It would work, but Aragon refused to bring harm to this poor child who was only scared. If it were Parr biting her, she would have never thought about something like that.
Looks like she had no other choice, then.
“You’ve got me down on my knees
Please tell me what you think I’ve done wrong.”
Maggie’s eyes snapped up. She was now staring at Aragon expectantly.
“Been humble, been loyal, I’ve tried
To swallow my pride all along.”
All at once, the eagerness to be sung to drains from Maggie. There’s deep shame and guilt in her eyes from the lyrics that hit way close too home with the current situation they’re both in.
“If you can just explain
A single thing I’ve done to cause you pain, I’ll go.”
Maggie whimpers as tears start to flow from her eyes at a quicker pace. Her shoulders shake with the intensity of her sobs. She finally becomes aware of the blood flowing down her throat.
“...No?” Aragon whispers.
Maggie’s mouth snaps open only because she had to run to one of the stalls to vomit.
Aragon immediately pulls her hand back to her, cradling it against her chest. She grabs some paper towels to wipe away the blood (which there is an alarming amount of). Then, she looks to the stall Maggie disappeared into and frowned. The sound of the girl’s sobbing and wailing practically rattled the entire bathroom.
Slowly, Aragon stands up. She washes her hand off first and winces at how deep the marks in her flesh were, but decided to ignore them for now. She had a guitarist to tend to.
Maggie was huddled over the toilet, coughing violently. Aragon peeked in just in time to watch as she shoved her fingers down her throat and she immediately leapt into action.
“Woah, hey!”
Aragon grabbed both wrists, causing the girl to spasm like she was being electrocuted. She whined sharply, struggling but ultimately way too weak to break free from the queen. She hunches down, almost cowering beneath Aragon.
Maggie grits her teeth and jerked backwards. Her spine hit the toilet with a painful-sounding thud and Aragon has to tighten her grip to keep the kid from harming herself further.
“Stop!” Maggie shrieked, “Stop!!”
“I’m trying to help you!” Aragon snapped, accidentally raising her voice. “So just calm d-”
“Let go!” Maggie cried, even louder, “Let go, please, let go!” She wildly whips her head around in every direction, kicking out her legs, but missing each time.
Aragon has no idea what she’s freaking out about until she looks down and sees the red oozing out from under her hand. She splays open her fingers a little and sees multiple bruises and bite marks she had been squeezing in what could have only felt like an iron grip to Maggie. Guilt pangs her heart.
“Oh, honey...” She murmured, but mainly because the sight broke her heart. She couldn’t believe she had never noticed this before.
Maggie rips her hands away, scrambling backwards against the wall. She takes a few heaving breaths, but it doesn’t stop her oncoming panic attack. Her wide eyes dart everywhere until they land on Aragon’s hand. The bruise could already be seen, despite the queen’s darker skin tone.
“Love, I’m okay,” Aragon said quickly, “You need to get washed up, th-”
She’s cut off by Maggie leaping to her feet. The girl apologizes rapidly, even cursing herself a few times, before fleeing. Aragon yells after her, but she could only watch the girl sprint out like a frightened deer.
Aragon wasn’t quite sure where Maggie went after she ran out, but she liked to think Bessie and her family comforted her. However, she did know that Maggie didn’t forget what happened between them.
It’s been two weeks and Maggie is still refusing to make eye contact. She flees by any means possible every time Aragon gets near and pretends to not hear or just ignores anything the Spanish queen says to her.
Aragon’s bruise is starting to heal, but more are just appearing on Maggie.
