Ok. This is gonna be a rambly, high sci-fi post.
I'm watching Star Trek: The Next Generation S4E4.
The adoption one. If it's not known as that already it should be.
Jono/Jeremiah is struggling with his relationships. His adoptive father clearly cares a lot for him, and Jono cares in return. But also his genetic family wants to meet him.
So have both! Jesus christ it's so simple. This is Jono, he's your grandson.
Hi grandma. Would you like to hear about the sports tournament I won?
...[conversation ensues]
What a wonderful visit. I'm going home with Jono to Talarian space now because that's where he lives.
And that's totally not a metaphor for how open adoption helps everyone.
Why do we make this so hard?
