“hey, man ... it’s nick, right?” river hadn’t spoken to him much, and he’d always seemed like the type who kept to himself. they’d shared a few classes, though, and river had always been good with names. “i think you’re stuck with me for this history presentation,” he explained with a light, self-deprecating little chuckle — their teacher had sent out an email blast with the assignments the day prior. “just figured i’d check in about it — didn’t want you thinking i was gonna try and leave you on your own.”
