In the Vikings TV series, I noticed a valuable lesson that was being taught through the story of Ragnar Lothbrok.
This mighty, legendary hero, beloved by most, if not all, of the other characters in the series, gets addicted to a drug.
This happened, because Ragnar struggled. He struggled so much that, once he got a taste of that sweet relief that he felt from the drug, he couldn't go back to his sober suffering.
This lesson, to me, is that no matter how rich, famous, powerful, or legendary you are, there will always be suffering, and anyone can very easily get lost into that sweet relief that drugs can give you. You can pretend to be the strongest person in the world, but you will still always have some sort of struggle, and you can still fall victim to addiction. It only takes once. I've watched my friends and family get addicted, ruin their lives, and then eventually overdose and die. I lost one of my best friends that I ever had to her heroin addiction not long ago. It only takes once.
Maybe Ragnar, and his defeat in Paris, can be used as an example to the fans, for why it is important to steer clear of using hardcore drugs. I don't know. Most folks probably didn't recognize the severity of his addiction, and how well it resembled real world addictions. So maybe not, but I hope so!

Can I just say
FUCK ADDICTION
FUCK ALCOHOL
I miss you and I think of you always
Every time I hear even the smallest echo I think of you
Whenever I wash a dish or my hands I think of you
When I see your spot I think of you
I think of how gentle your voice was and how caring you were
I think of your advice
I will always miss you. I pray your soul is finally at peace.
I wish you were still here
literally not one single person in my life understands this or why i'm so upset and i cant escape that. but when i come on here, i know every single one of you understands and that will never be taken away from us. i dont know what i would be doing right now if it weren't for all of you and all of the wonderful (and sometimes horrible) times we've had over the years. one direction saved me and I'm really sorry that i couldn't save liam. he desrved so much more than that pain.
...I have a secret and it's destroying my life...my pain is hidden behind a smile on my lips but if you look, there's a deep sadness in my eyes...that I cannot hide...
I used to look at things so differently when you were here.. now everyday I think back to what was supposed to be. I hear your music, listen to what you listened to it just never seems to be the same. The holidays, the concerts, the late night cries, I just fucking miss you so much… I wish you were here to pick me up like you always did.. you were more than my friend, you were my family and I failed you… I love you so much Kyle.
It feels like a bad dream, a nightmare you want to desperately wake up from but you can't. It's become your reality. You can't change it. Just have to live with it. I have to go on now and live every day with you not by my side. You are gone forever. And I'm here missing you, stuck in this hell of a dream. 😔You were here one day, and gone the next leaving my heart broken in a million shards of glass.
No posts today. My dad passed away in July and today is his birthday.
