The witcher is better than i expected it to be! But tbh i was expecting utter garbage p much, so it wasn't difficult to surpass my expectations. I'd say if you're very tired of the edgy dark gritty subgenre of fantasy, then might not be worth it, otherwise id say go for it! There are some really great characters and character dynamics, and there's humour so it's not all bleak, also some cool worldbuilding based on fairytales

@addictsitter 100% that was the problem!!! And they should have made it be the pressure from Leah, I mean, it would have been a good parallel to the VKs right and made the ending much better (and shit even could have fixed the lack of Ben by more concretely painting his father as a Not Good Guy as well, and giving him room to react to Audrey) - Audrey admits tearfully to Mal that she understands what the pressure to Be Perfect can make you do, and Mal apologizes for the damage she did during D1, even if she did it out of desperation. And it would have driven home the “evil can come from anywhere” like say an overbearing parent or a desperate young girl.

Instead it just read as like. Audrey throwing a fit bc things didn’t go her way one time even tho she’s literally still a princess and going to be Queen one day if her own kingdom, and Ben never really loved her ANYWAYS (and like. She didn’t love him either?? I mean I kno it’s books wise but still, there’s this implication that they were just thrown together bc it was politically smart and not bc they loved each other). But also - like the cackling at the ending was super cringey lol. Sarah does serious very good and mean very good but evil was...not quite there.

Also d2 tho listen to me - Uma/Harry/Gil are Together But Pretend It’s Not Serious bc it’s the Isle, except Gil feels very rejected after Uma left and starts flirting with Jay, Harry gets mad that Gil is flirting with Harry’s ex boyfriend of all people, and Uma has no hecking idea why her boyfriends are being so weird. Everything gets cleared up later ITS FINE HARRY AND GIL ARE STILL TOGETHER. (Jay and Gil have really cute chemistry but like. Booboo has chemistry with everyone, and yeah like Hil/Jay came out of nowhere. It was a lovely surprise! But like. It’s third movie, me and my sisters have discussed ad nauseam who we want with who, u can’t go introducing new ships willy nilly in the final act).

I screamed out loud when Ben started the reprise for did I mention, and then my aunt went “You are too old to be this excited over a Disney channel movie” and I very maturely told her to shut up lol. I REALLY enjoyed do what you gotta do, and I thought Evie’s solo was adorable even tho I don’t care about Doug like that. And YES CELIA AND DIZZY - ITS RIFHT THERE, adorable best friend shenanigans!!! IT WOULD BE SO MUCH FUN

“please just stay with me.” for sirius/remus?

Sirius almost doesn’t answer when he hears a knock at the door. He waits a moment, until he hears footsteps before shuffling over to the door and changes his mind, before opening it. “I thought you were on a mission with the Order.” He steps back inside his room and leans against the wall by the door.

“I told them to go ahead without me.” Remus hovers at the threshold of the door, and it takes Sirius a moment to realize that he is waiting to be invited into the room. He swallows, trying to clear the lump in his throat.

“I don’t need to be babysat.” Sirius waves for him to come in, and Remus steps around Sirius before perching himself stiffly on the edge of the bed.

"I’m not here to babysit.” It feels easier to ignore him, so Sirius twists a strand of hair around his finger, watching as it forms rings around it. “Sirius, c’mon. Halloween isn’t easy for me either.”

His finger slips, and he accidentally tugs his hair. “Ouch. Fuck.” He lets go and rolls his eyes, trying his best to avoid the burning feeling in them. “You seem to manage just fine from what I’ve seen.”

Remus flinches. “That’s not fair, and you know it.” He knows Remus is right, even if he doesn’t want to admit it, so Sirius doesn’t respond. “You’re not the only one who lost them.”

“I didn’t lose them. I failed them. If I’d just been their Secret Keeper --” He can taste the alcohol coming back up, so he stops and shakes his head, letting the implication linger. 

Remus stands and crosses the room. As much as he wants to pull away, he can’t, and when Remus wraps his arms around them, it’s too much. The smell on his jumper is unfamiliar now. Everything is, but Sirius still collapses anyway, taking in a ragged breath as his shoulder shake. 

“It’s not your fault,” Remus says, and he tightens his arms, pulling Sirius closer until Sirius’s nose is firm against the crook of his neck. His hand runs up and down Sirius’s back. It feels impossible not to unravel. As careful as he’s been, he has never known how not to feel exposed and vulnerable in Remus’s arms. When Remus’s fingers run through his hair and Sirius closes his eyes, he can almost pretend nothing has changed. 

Remus holds him until Sirius’s chest stops heaving, and his sobbing dies down. And when he lets go, Sirius tilts his chin up, pressing their lips together. It’s different. The Remus he knew from Hogwarts was clean-shaven, but stubble now rubs against his cheek. His cologne is different, and his breath smells more of coffee than chocolate. Nonetheless, it still feels familiar, like if he pushes past these small differences, he can find a shell of who they once were.

When Sirius feels Remus’s hand push against his chest, he pulls back, dreading meeting Remus’s eyes. The moment stretches out, and he glances down first before looking up, and his stomach drops. 

Remus has never looked at him with pity before.

“We’ve gone over this, Sirius. It’s different now...” Remus trails off and glances away. Sirius watches him as he bites on his lower lip, leaving the skin under it raw and red.

“Because you don’t love me anymore.”

“That’s not it.” Remus’s voice is cutting, almost angry, and Sirius desperately wants to believe he’s telling the truth, but he doesn’t know how. Instead, he wipes his eyes on his sleeve and shakes his head.

“You’re worse than the rest of them, you know? I can’t blame them for not knowing how to act around me, but you were my boyfriend, my best friend. But now I spend a few minutes around you, and it never doesn’t feel worse.” The color drains from Remus’s face, but he doesn’t otherwise react. All Sirius wants to do if turn back time just a minute and take back everything he’s said. “I didn’t mean it,” Sirius croaks, but Remus knows him too well to believe him.

“I have to go,” Remus says, moving towards the door.

“Don’t go. Please -- please just stay with me.” Sirius’s chest gets tighter with each word, and he can barely knows how not to throw himself on the floor. 

“I have to join the others,” Remus says. He curls his shoulders forward, as if he will disappear if he just can make himself small enough. “I’m sorry.”

The door swings shut behind him, and Sirius waits until he no longer can hear Remus’s footsteps before making his way down to the kitchen and pulling the mead from the cupboard.

oh my god that wouldve been such a mistake i am so glad they changed it??? it was one of the moments i just fell for him entirely, my beautiful enthusiastic son
