     she  cannot  help  the  look  of  disdain  when  her  mother  announces  cousin  sidney  has  come  to  visit.  but  jill  knows  better  than  to  show  her  dislike  for  her  cousin,  especially  when  it  has  not  always  been  like  that.  besides,  it  is  not  a  thing  as  simple  as  dislike,  jill  merely  puts  it  that  way  to  avoid  getting  into  the  details  of  her  otherwise  complicated  mind.  but  the  truth  is  –  there  is  still  some  admiration  in  there  laced  with  pure  and  simple  envy.  sidney  is  famous.  she  has  had  books  written  about  her,  movies  made  about  her  adventures.  living  in  her  shadow  has  never  been  easy,  the  cousin  of  the  final  girl.  but  soon  it  will  all  change.  ah,  she  can  see  it  –  her  name  in  the  headlines  instead.  do  not  worry,  cousin  sid,  jill  will  do  her  best  not  to  taint  your  legacy.  the  brunette  walks  downstairs  just  in  time  to  see  the  older  woman  dropping  her  suitcases  on  the  floor,  fake  smile  plastered  on  glossy  lips.  

     “cousin  sid!”  jill  greets,  closing  the  distance  between  them  to  wrap  her  arms  around  her  neck  –  soon  enough  she  might  be  wrapping  something  else.  the  mere  thought  is  enough  to  have  the  smile  on  her  lips  be  genuine,  excitement  swarming  on  her  skin.  “it’s  so  good  to  have  you  here”,  she  whispers,  pulling  away  and  pressing  a  soft  kiss  to  sidney’s  cheek.  how  annoying,  even  her  skin  is  perfect.  perfect  final  girl  sidney  prescott.  but  it  is  alright.  jill  will  show  the  world  what  a  true  final  girl  looks  like  –  she  just  needs  to  be  patient.  “how  long  are  you  staying  this  time?  we  need  to  catch  up,  it’s  been  forever!”  perhaps  she  might  be  exaggerating  with  the  enthusiasm,  they  are  not  that  intimate  afterwards,  but  her  plan  feels  so  close  to  coming  true  that  she  cannot  help  it.

      gorilla  costumes.  this  is  what  the  world  has  come  to.  wait,  did  kara  actually  say  following?  taking  a  step  closer  to  the  blonde,  karolina  cannot  help  it  as  concern  graces  her  features.  “what  do  you  mean  following  us?  why  would  anyone  follow  us?  do  you  think  we’re  going  to  be  robbed?”  she  asks  in  a  whisper,  going  against  her  every  instinct  to  look  at  said  gorilla  stalker.  but  then  karolina  opens  her  lips  –  an  idea  blooming  in  her  mind.  “can’t  you  fight  him?  i  mean,  you  are  super  strong,  you  could  definitely  take  him.  i  doubt  he  weights  as  much  as  a  stove!”  the  blonde  mumbles,  eyes  sparkling  with  the  idea  of  seeing  her  best  friend  fight  crime.  alright,  it  is  very  dangerous  and  perhaps  she  should  not  be  this  excited,  but  she  cannot  help  herself  –  kara  can  throw  stoves  across  the  sky  and  break  needles  with  her  skin,  that  type  of  thing  just  never  happens  in  karolina  dean’s  life!  perhaps  she  will  never  get  a  chance  to  rebel  herself,  but  she  can  live  vicariously  through  kara,  right?  “come  on,  punch  the  dude.  or,  well,  just  make  him  faint  so  we  can  get  out  of  here.”

      believe  her,  harry,  she  knows.  the  memory  is  still  enough  to  bring  a  grin  to  trembling  lips,  however,  caramel  hues  looking  up  from  her  lap  to  her  best  friend.  it  has  been  so  hard,  loving  ron  in  silent  –  keeping  it  from  harry.  but  it  never  felt  right  to  share,  to  burden  him  with  such  foolish  secrets.  it  is  just  a  crush,  it  will  go  away  –  hermione  kept  telling  herself.  except  it  never  did.  and  now  harry  knows.  “yeah,  you’re  right”,  the  girl  whispers,  using  the  back  of  her  sleeve  to  wipe  away  some  tears.  she  has  been  weeping  so  much  over  ronald  that  it  is  no  wonder  even  harry  figured  out  –  of  course,  the  only  one  who  seems  not  to  notice  is  ron  himself  but  he  does  have  the  emotional  range  of  a  teaspoon  (  and  the  attention  spam  of  a  baby.  )  hermione  holds  back  the  insults  though,  tears  still  glistering  in  her  gaze.  she  is  so  sad  and  she  loathes  it  –  loathes  the  fact  a  boy  can  have  this  kind  of  impact  on  her.  especially  after  six  years.  six  years  of  will  they,  won’t  they  –  oh,  definitely  won’t  they.  

      “he  means  the  world  to  me,  harry.  he  really,  really  does”,  the  witch  suddenly  admits,  taking  a  deep  breath  as  she  tries  to  recompose  herself.  instead,  however,  hermione  just  rests  her  head  on  harry’s  shoulder.  “it  seems  so  silly,  doesn’t  it?  you-know-who  is  out  there  planning  a  war  and  plotting  a  way  to  end  our  lives  and  we’re  in  here  upset  because  of  the  weasley  siblings”,  she  adds,  smiling  at  herself  because  she  can  almost  hear  his  look  of  disbelief.  “yeah,  i  know.  i’m  your  best  friend  and  unlike  some  people  i  pay  attention”,  hermione  mumbles,  head  raising  at  the  sound  of  someone  walking  nearby.  glancing  at  harry,  the  witch  smiles  weakly.  "we  should  probably  get  going  –  i’ve  got  some  chapters  to  go  over.  and  i  believe  you  have  a  meeting  with  professor  dumbledore.”

     an  eyebrow  raises  at  his  suggestion,  almost  as  if  to  say  –  have  you  forgotten  my  diet  is  solely  based  on  blood  now?  but  caroline  stays  quiet,  instead  nodding  and  reaching  out  to  place  a  scarf  around  her  neck  and  a  heavy  coat  around  her  shoulders  –  just  because  she  does  not  feel  cold  anymore  that  does  not  mean  caroline  has  stopped  loving  winter  clothes.  linking  her  arm  with  his,  the  blonde  smiles  weakly  at  her  best  friend  before  a  sigh  escapes  glossy  lips.  “is  it  bad  i  actually  miss  that  little  fog  that  leaves  your  lips  when  you  exhale  and  it’s  too  cold  outside?  it  made  me  feel  magical  before  i  even  knew  magic  existed”,  caroline  points  out,  blue  eyes  focusing  on  his  figure.  “what’s  up,  bar?  why  did  you  want  to  go  for  a  walk?”  she  inquires,  placing  herself  in  front  of  him  before  allowing  a  frown  to  make  its  way  to  her  features.  “is  everything  alright?”

a  frown  settles  in  delicate  features,  lips  parting  lightly  before  lexie  forces  them  together  in  a  thin  line.  she  has  been  trying  to  get  meredith  to  like  her  (  talk  to  her,  even  )  ever  since  she  started  working  there  and  she  has  gotten  nothing.  her  sister  wants  nothing  to  do  with  her  –  well,  half-sister,  technically,  but  lexie  has  never  been  one  to  care  about  technicalities  when  it  comes  to  family.  meredith  has  been  doing  everything  she  can  to  avoid  her,  actually,  to  the  point  where  lexie  gave  her  a  very  embarrassing  speech  in  a  bathroom.  but  then  this  morning  meredith  had  approached  her,  racing  her  tiny  heart  and  filling  her  head  with  hopes  and  dreams.  yet  she  is  being  turned  down,  again.  well  –  not  this  time.  “i  don’t  want  to  be  like  you”,  lexie  replies,  surprised  by  how  loud  and  angry  her  voice  sounds.  then  she  clears  her  throat,  not  wanting  to  make  meredith  hate  her  even  more.  “i  mean,  i  do.  you’re  clever  and  dedicated  and  an  amazing  surgeon  and  you’ve  got  these  wonderful  friends  but  i  just–  i  don’t  wanna  be  you.  i  just  want  to  get  to  know  you.  i  mean,  you–  you’re  my  sister.  a  sister  i  didn’t  even  know  i  had  until  a  few  months  ago.  so  just–  give  me  a  break.  and  stop  thinking  i’m  trying  to  steal  your  life  or  be  you  because  i  don’t.  i  just  want  you  to  say  good  morning  to  me  without  calling  me  by  a  number.  that’s–  that’s  not  too  much  to  ask  for,  is  it?”

     blue  hues  have  been  focused  on  the  sketchbook  in  front  of  her,  soft  lines  that  will  later  turn  into  butterflies  as  well  as  the  familiar  features  of  a  pretty  girl.  art  has  always  been  clarke  griffin’s  favorite  creative  outlet  –  even  at  the  ark,  when  there  had  been  no  colors  and  sketchbooks  were  rare.  but  they  are  home  now  and  things  are  different.  earth  provides  more  material  than  clarke  could  ever  imagine.  there  are  more  shades  of  each  color,  each  detail  of  a  plant  or  an  animal  different  from  the  last.  there  are  stocks  of  painting  material  too,  the  residues  of  those  who  did  not  survive  the  radiation.  earth  gives  and  gives  and  clarke  feels  blessed  to  have  so  much  and  have  her  art.  she  is  happy  to  have  lily  too,  after  all,  the  brunette  is  the  center  of  her  most  recent  works.  when  clarke  has  a  crush,  she  draws  them  –  it  is  that  simple.  what  she  does  not  expect  is  that  lily  would  wake  up  from  her  nap  and  quietly  walk  outside  as  clarke  works  (  or  perhaps  not  that  quietly,  but  clarke  is  very  focused.  )  the  one  way  to  distract  her?  oh  –  there.  the  soft  spot  on  her  neck  that  has  the  blonde  shutting  blue  eyes  and  parting  dry  lips.  clarke  smiles  softly  when  lily  pulls  away,  turning  around  to  glance  at  the  other  girl.  “well,  that’s  one  way  to  say  hi”,  she  whispers,  placing  her  lips  to  lily’s  gently  –  as  if  she  just  might  break  (  or  disappear.  )  “did  you  sleep  well?”

      tears  roll  down  her  cheeks,  bottom  lip  trembling  as  she  sits  down  on  the  sidewalk  to  keep  on  crying  with  some  dignity  –  after  all,  jane  can  still  feel  the  parents’  eyes  on  her.  the  scandal  is  out,  jane  has  been  dating  the  father  of  a  student.  perhaps  in  any  other  school  that  would  have  been  fine,  but  the  brunette  had  been  teaching  at  a  catholic  school  and  the  nuns  are  nothing  but  strict.  therefore,  after  a  not  so  gentle  request  from  the  board,  jane  has  been  fired.  all  because  she  fell  in  love  with  jesus.  oh  yeah,  the  irony  does  not  escape  her.  believe  her.  it  is  all  she  can  think  of  as  she  continues  sobbing  on  the  ground.  until  a  little  hand  rests  on  her  shoulder.  “miss  jane?”  mariana  inquires  and  jane  feels  a  weight  being  lifted  off  her  chest.  they  are  there.  glancing  up,  jesus  shakes  his  head  as  if  to  say  he  could  not  bring  himself  to  tell  her.  but  it  is  okay.  because  he  is  there,  mariana  is  there  and  mateo  is  waiting  for  them  at  home  and  they  are  gonna  be  alright.  right?  “hi,  baby  girl.  your  dad  told  me  you’ve  been  craving  some  ice  cream  all  day.  how  about  we  go  get  you  some?”  she  asks  quietly,  getting  a  nod  and  a  smile  from  the  girl  she  loves  as  her  own  daughter.  that  is  when  jane  stands  up,  hugging  jesus  before  burying  her  face  on  his  chest.  “thank  you  for  being  here.”

      eyebrows  furrow  lightly,  glossy  lips  pursing  together  in  disbelief.  “werewolf?  come  on,  ben,  everyone  knows  the  big  bad  wolf  is  safe  and  sound  away  at  the  isle.  i  know,  mom  used  to  teach  him  how  to  do  his  eyebrows  –  believe  it  or  not,  with  all  that  fur,  his  eyebrows  were  the  only  thing  he  cared  about!”  evie  rambles,  lips  parting  as  she  takes  a  trip  down  memory  lane  –  how  queen  grimhilde’s  castle  used  to  be  so  empty  with  the  rares  visits  from  people  who  dared  go  against  maleficent’s  banishment.  how  halloween  used  to  be  her  favorite  holiday  but  the  children  only  ever  stopped  by  the  castle  to  write  on  the  walls  or  make  fun  of  evie  from  a  distance  –  all  too  terrified  that  maleficent  (  or  mal  )  would  banish  them  next.  then  she  notices  ben  is  probably  still  waiting  for  her  to  say  something  else,  head  shaking  as  blue  curls  spread  around  her  face.  “what’s  halloween  even  like  around  here?  do  you  guys  dress  up?  are  there  a  lot  of  pranks?  mal  and  jay  love  pranking  people”  the  girl  inquires,  trying  not  to  show  the  sadness  that  has  taken  over  her  features  with  the  reminder  of  home.
