Unnaturally blue eyes shone bright, small delicate hands reaching out slowly to offer comfort. Alistair always told her to leave the problems of mortals alone, that it only led to trouble. But Mina saw the way his face contorted, saw the troubling look in his eyes, and couldn’t help herself. Her heart twisted, her delicate pink lips curling into a gentle smile, freckled face gentle and reassuring.
“It is easy to feel that way sometimes…” She murmured, her soft voiced laced with a gentle Scottish accent. She most certainly knew how easy it was to feel lost. It hadn’t been long at all since they had lost John, and his memories rested heavy in her heart. “But it is not always so. If it is not too forward of me to offer my presence… Perhaps a stranger’s ear could help.”

He did his best not to flinch from the grasp of his hand, the familiar burning of his skin prickling from such a gentle touch. The slighter man smiled gently and pulled his hand away after a brief squeeze of reassurance. “Only on unimportant matters, and yet I still worry these trenches will be our graves.”
