I think Adelar is just a cheerless bitch, but my friend think he's handsome XDDD
A Slow Day
Digits idly drummed upon the oaken counter. Wares were proudly on display, having been polished to a nice shine the day before. Turquoise orbs regarded the doorway with a kind of resigned hope. Hope for a possible customer to appear and make a few purchases. Resignation due to the fact that he had yet to even have a single person enter the shop, much less browse for a bit. He frowned a bit. Business had been doing fine for the last month or so. He was certainly in no particular financial danger... But it was still something that no businessman cared to see. The drumming continued. Perhaps it was time that he did some advertising. Might help him get a little more business.
Everytime he gets to see a Champion using some artifact he made, Adelar gets all blushy and smiles widely.
//Okay, I can see that one. Headcanon accepted! XD
DO IT. DO IT NAOW
Please. PLEASE. Flood my askbox with prompts and starters and tags and whatnot. I have a confident Adelar on my hands (for once) and want to make the most of it while it lasts! So if you wanna chance to see what he's like with kahoneys, send'em in! :D
At The Forge
He was in the back of his little workshop, hammering away at a small bar of steel to be made into a dagger. To the consternation of some Artificers, the League was quite rough on mundane arms and armor and required a constant supply of them to replace the ones that were inevitably used to make magical items. It was tough physical labor. Forging the metals and hammering out the proper shape, then grinding it into a fine edge usually took hours. Most Artificers hated the 'normal' work, preferring to create the magical weapons, armor, and tools dubbed "artifacts" by those in the profession.
For his part, Adelar enjoyed his occupation within the League. Artificers were, by and large, unknown except by the administration of the League and a few inquisitive Summoners. It never failed that when he spoke of his occupation, he had to explain what exactly he did. It wasn't terribly interesting for most, but then again he wasn't exactly in it for the fame.
It wasn't a particularly glamorous job, but the pay was pretty good, and he did get the chance to make beautiful things for the Champions. Not to mention that he got to make artifacts that had garnered a certain amount of fame in their own right. His father (as a young man) had been the mind behind the creation of the much vaunted Thornmail. Quite a few of his fellow Artificers were certain that Adelar was going to make something even better. For his part, the young man was pretty sure he wouldn't. His father had been a genius. A revolutionary in artificing. His techniques halved the time it normally took to create League artifacts.
Taking a pair of large calipers, the Artificer placed the bar of steel back in the forge. He'd reheat the metal, making it more pliable so that he could pound it into something that would resemble a dagger.
He frowned a little after pulling the steel from the forge. It wasn't quite ready for hammering yet. Father would have told him to wait longer. The young man's face fell inward a bit at the thought, as he placed the metal back. People were always comparing him to his father.
