becoming a community drama reaction channel wasn't on my bingo card today, but i'll reply this once because the post i've made yesterday fits this case

to better or worse, there isn't such thing as copyright violation and intellectual property when it comes to sims custom content. even if cc was made by hand from scratch, once it makes it into *.package (officially registered filetype belonging to ea), from this moment forth, it belongs to ea and falls under the rule that i referred to before - you can do anything with it if it's still for sims.

this wouldn't be the first time a simmer made up a lawyer. camuflaje did it a year ago too. still funny to this day. seriously, if a creator threatens you with a lawsuit and legal consequences for sharing or editing their cc, you can laugh right in their face. unless it's second life conversions. seriously kids, never fuck with sl, their copyrights ain't no joke. you'd think if lawsuits over cc had any legal leg to stand on, people who put trackers in their cc would sue simmers left and right, yet here we are - no one in jail yet.

as i already said, we abide by TOUs out of desire to be kind and respectful to each other, not because we must. you can hope that people who love you enough to want to make you feel better will follow your TOU, but if someone doesn't, the last thing you want to do is threaten them with legal actions if you don't want to look like a clown with empty threats and get your cc shared ten times more because people like to be petty when it feels justified.

as for the screenshot that gets actively spread around, i don't know, this tantrum is so silly that it's actually hilarious. fuck me on my bed while i smoke my pot? don't threaten me with a good time, baby.

Would you be mad if someone used your Sim's design one to one like Kaschei, Sora or anyone else? Or are you ok with it? ( saw a awful lot of takes on these kinds of things so I thought I'd ask out of curiosity ^^ )

no, i am not okay with that

of course i would be mad. what question even is that? they're my OCs, especially Sora who exists in writing and roleplays since 2013. imagine drawing your OC (and cas is my way of visualizing my characters), and then someone copies them down to detail and says it's their character now because they felt like it? it's rude, unethical and hurtful

if someone's character is pretty, enjoy looking at them. don't be a dick and steal other people's OCs.

I agree; Ravenwood and Moonwood Mill have some genuinely good townies. (Honestly not sure I could even name many from most of the newer packs... 💀) Have you played with the new pack at all? I wanna hear your thoughts on the new townies. I kicked everyone out and replaced them with my Sims almost immediately, so I never actually played them or looked into their stories at all. >_>

i played it and am still playing it... fairy townies feel shallow and underwhelming. you didn't miss out on much.

first of all, they added characters we know and love, but then cut half of the family? you can't just bring back summerdreams and remove puck from the picture??? i lived for puck!! yeah, i get it, they wanted to bring back mara the fairy queen from sims 1, why not make her a newborn baby then, and keep puck and bottom?

second, all their families descriptions are basically the same. enchanted lovers: look, a couple bonded over nature! ladipo: look, a couple bonded over nature! mystical besties: look, a soon-to-be couple bonded over nature! summerdreams: look, a couple. ...give me a fucking break, and something really interesting to read.

now, since i mentioned reading, let's look at their lore and compare to others with lore. and i apologize but imma bitch about it

ravenwood townies have 6 to 8 secrets each, it's not much, but some of them have cool lore, plus some have additional secrets that they only share when you know something specific about them. layne even changes his trait once he confides in you that he's evil and not good as he pretended to be before.

san sequoia townies have 12 secrets each. i don't care about them because i don't care about characters, but at least i appreciate how many are there. even tomarang's townies have 6 secrets each which is not a lot but you'll soon see how it compares to fairies. the chicken world has 15 for each! some are boring, but some are agnes talking about her past, so it's appreciated. nordhaven townies have 39 secrets between all of them plus 25 more when you ask specific characters. the code for this pack's secrets is a bit chaotic. but it's quite a few

now, werewolves have 15 secrets for each person (16 for lily), plus 36 shared ones, plus 13 moon specific, characters have different speech style, and so many secrets are actual lore!

now, fairies. three secrets for each townie. THREE.

do they at least contain lore?

"I know Titania enchants gnomes to clean the house." "Fairies don't need food but i love grilled cheese." "Butterflies make the best of friends." "Wow, this mushroom goes by two names!" "Can you give me advice on pixies?" really??? how these are secrets that require close friendship?! you can give this little mushroom trivia to a random in public bathroom line! GIVE ME THE GODDAMN LORE talk about your past, talk history, talk relationships between occults, not your cheese cravings! not to mention all phrases could be said by the same person and you would never guess who is talking, might be chatgpt for all i know

anyway i'm ranting. but i'm so disappointed in townies. when i get to important saves, i'm deleting most of them and bringing puck back

originally, worlds in sims games were meant as fictional towns or regions of real world countries. for example, world descriptions in sims 3 world adventures say "al simhara, egypt", "champs les sims, france", and "shang simla, china". some items in build buy catalogs of previous sims games also refer to real world events and people, and sims have real world musicians, too. so wg lives in windenburg, germany!

(there's a game conventionality that all countries have a single school between all of them, but eh, i just don't focus on it too much)

goes without saying that if thinking of windenburg as a separate country works better for your story, don't listen to anyone including me and just headcanon it the way you like it more. it's your game

Thank you very much for the last overlay, you are a real wizard. It has a vibe similar to my former favorite, who was nice in everything, but covered almost all the details like wrinkles and freckles and was very frustrating. And now I am in absolutely rapture. Do you know, by the way, why such a problem can arise when creating this kind of CC?

yep, i know. good news: your favorite overlay is very easily fixable

each item has a sort layer number that defines which texture goes over/under of which. texture with bigger number covers texture with smaller number. when someone makes an overlay on a base of maxis genetic detail but doesn't lower the sort layer number, it ends up having the same priority as all other details, so it's a gamble which one will end up covering the other, i saw a face overlay where one swatch covered freckles but the other one didn't

sort layer number for all maxis details is 2200 the lowest which is acne is 2025 now, so i make my overlays 2100 or something like that they have to be 2000 now, to make sure it goes below other details

if you want to, you can follow this tutorial and fix your favorite overlay yourself, the process is absolutely the same, just the number you put in must be anything lower than 2200 lower than 2025 now. or you can reach out to me and i'll help you fix it.
