What do you do when you find yourself in a book and do not like that character? I had a bad case of this while reading this book. I found a character with an experience almost identical to mine and yet, I thought she handled it way worse than I did. This book started off with a lot of potential for me, but in the end it was one, big nope.

Отзыв: Эта книга мне понравилась значительно больше, чем предыдущая этого автора. Она все-таки была не такой скучной да и более адекватной. И даже конец был как-то… ну, можно сказать, в тему. Все-таки примерно об этом и была книга. Я вообще люблю читать и смотреть про 1989 год. Это год моего рождения, и мне интересно, как же все тогда было. Но я не скажу, что автор погрузила меня в атмосферу того времени. Ощущение было такое, что автор помнит о том времени лишь то, что тогда не было сотовых и у каждого второго был СПИД. Вот и все. А так, что я про 2018 читаю, что про 30 лет назад… Все одно. В целом, разок прочитать можно. Не жаль потраченного времени. И настоящая дружба в конце мне очень понравилась.

Отзыв: Как же было скучно. Кошмар какой-то. 70-ые годы (в книге даже присутствует Михаил Барышников, поселившийся по соседству с семьей героини), повествование от лица двух девушек, борющихся за одного парня. Кому вообще может быть это интересно, если такие книги нацелены на аудиторию девушек-подростков? Неудивительно, что у книги рейтинг 3,36 на Goodreads. Я бы и столько не дала. Автор явно пыталась повторить успех «Мы были лжецами» (много общего), но этой книге до нее, как до Китая пешком. В конце я на секунду поверила, что автор написала хоть что-то интересное. Но потом я обреченно вздохнула: «Весьма ожидаемо». Очень занудно. Героини ужасные. Даже не знаю, что они все находили в этом парне, что теряли с ним девственность через пару дней после знакомства. И он как бы показан как вполне себе приличный человек. Но ведь его поступки ничем не лучше, чем гадкие поступки самой Джин. Адекватных героев в книге нет. И хоть 2018, хоть 1976… геи будут в истории обязательно.
