For shits and giggles, right? Haha! I watched that mess once and it’s all I ever wanted to see of it again.
For completeness sake. My hubby is a perfectionist (which, IDK what he's doing with me, I'm about as laissze-faire as they come...) and I got him into the show, so now we have to see it through.
Happy birthday, Donna! Hope it's wonderful!
Thank you so much! :)

Tender
It was a quiet drive as their group headed north. The long explanation by Carol of what had happened at the pecan grove had left them all emotionally drained and in a sort of mental limbo as they tried to process it all. Daryl could see in her eyes that Carol had relived the whole experience as she told the story, and it chilled him to the bone to see her fighting so hard to maintain her composure.
She was feigning sleep now, and he hoped that that would soon become real sleep. He could feel the exhaustion coming off of her in waves, and he didn’t mind being her pillow as they rode in the back seat of the car. Michonne was driving, and in the front passenger seat, Carl had been staring at the dashboard for hours.
Carol had curled her legs up on the seat behind Carl, propping her head and back against Daryl’s side. He had his arm around her, gently combing his fingers through her hair. He had never been good with words. He didn’t know how to ease this pain she was feeling. Carol had always had the words when he needed them; he hated that he couldn’t reciprocate now that she needed him.
Instead, he tried to impart whatever strength and whatever comfort she needed just by holding her, massaging her scalp and rubbing the back of her neck. His hands had never been tender. They were hunter’s hands, covered in callouses and well-practiced in skinning game and cleaning blood off of weapons. They weren’t so accustomed to being gentle.
He could see where Carl had reached his closer arm back, grasping one of Carol’s hands and holding onto it as they drove. He hadn’t noticed the kid doing that, no idea how long that had been going on. Carol was returning the grip, and every so often, Carl’s thumb would rub against the back of her hand.
Michonne kept her eyes forward, and he could see her expression in the rearview mirror. She was focused entirely on driving, but he knew that look in her eyes. She had been the first person to come forward and embrace Carol, speaking softly in her ear words that Daryl hadn’t heard. The words hadn’t been for him to hear, just for Carol. All he knew was that Carol had held onto the other woman tightly, and some of the weight on her shoulders seemed to transfer a little bit to Michonne.
Daryl was grateful to Michonne for the support when everyone else had been too horrified to react. They would understand, once they had time to digest it. They had to. They wouldn’t cast her out again; she had punished herself enough for everything. He wouldn’t lose her again. He refused to.
If she went, then he went too.
He trailed his fingertips through her hair again, finally feeling her beginning to properly nod off.
If there was no her, then there was no him.
