♔ — “Hate to break it to you, but your staring wasn’t as discreet as you thought it was.” Nick snickered, approaching the stranger who he’d caught looking over in his direction. Whether the recognized him for his position, or was simply staring at the over-sized arachnid pokémon clinging to his back, it wasn’t clear. But that didn’t stop him from striking up conversation either way.
“Might as well spit it out now. What do you want?”
Vela hated sand. It’s coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere. While she was willing to do just about anything for the sake of her work, unfortunately her research often meant she needed to stop by the Desert Resort, which seemed to somehow maintain an endless, continuous, never ending sandstorm. It had gotten to such a point that Vela was beginning to believe this bizarre meteorological spectacle existed purely out of spite for impeding her work. While it was improbable to say the least, sometimes it was nice to believe there was a purpose to an awful day.
Seeing as Nimbasa was the closest place to which Vela could try and get a few gallons of sand out of a black dress, she went to the nearest Pokemon Center, and practically collapsed in one of their chairs, running a hand through her hair, and let out a long, exasperated sigh.
“Honestly, does that sandstorm ever subside?” She asked herself, patting down her clothes, which were covered in a fine layer of sand.
quiet down;
OPEN
For the past hour there had been a commotion in the gardens of the Parfum Palace. Crashes, bangs and at one point an explosion echoed across the grounds. While he was halfway through a tour the worst of it had occurred, causing both him and the visitors to stare in astonishment. Since he was closest to the garden, Gabe palmed off the group to another tour guide and hurried off to see was going on.
Occasionally battles were held here. Trainers used the wider lawns as a battle arena but it was generally frowned upon by snobbier folk who preferred it to be quiet. Gabe wasn’t a snob himself, but he certainly preferred silence over the current noise.
Several trainers had scattered and left, only one person remaining in the area.
“You know,” he started, pausing to adjust his tie in frustration. “We pay a lot of money to keep this place intact. This isn’t a second Battle Chateau.”
“Looking good I dare say...”
Slipping on her other earring, Ziarae smiled to herself. Arctiuno’s Eve was a big thing in Kalos, like how many holidays are. And of course, the Champion of the region had to be looking her best, especially with the invitation she had received for the Parfum Palace, where there would be a grand ball.
Satisfied with how she looked, Ziarae slipped out of her home, ready to head over to the Parfum Palace. It was a quick trip, nothing eventful...
Until she reached the entrance, as she accidentally bumped into someone.
“Oh, excuse me...”
Sitting on the tile floor of the local pokécenter, Kenta peered down at the yellow and blue egg that rested comfortably in his lap. It had been a long while since he’d visited such a place, and while natural options for healing his team were always available in the form of different berries, with everyone as tired as they were, a visit to the center was deemed the best course of action.
Out of his team, only Havoc currently remained by his side. The others were being checked over by the nurses, but the Tyranitar was stubborn enough to stay by his trainer’s side as he waited, and being unable to physically shift a stubborn 500 pound rock-monster, the wandering trainer was given little choice but to keep him in his company.
But as insistent as the Tyranitar had been, it hadn’t taken long before the large pokémon had dozed off, slumbering on the pokécenter floor as Kenta remained propped up against the creature’s side, left with only his thoughts as he turned his new-found egg over in his hands.
“Wonder what you’re gonna be,” he muttered out loud to himself, entirely unaware of the strange looks he received from where he sat. “Kinda small, for an egg.”
“Seems like everyone’s present for Christmas this year is parenthood... and for those who are already parents, another one to the family.”
“Hey, can you tell us the way to the nearest pokécenter? We did have directions written down, but someone decided to shred the paper.”
A mildly annoyed glance is thrown towards a snickering Gliscor who stood beside him, sharp teeth bared in a wide grin. Clearly, the scorpion-like pokémon didn’t have a single regret.
