@trainerkenta
It seemed to Roy he had really picked an awful date to return to Hoenn. As the young trainer sat on his Dodrioâs back, riding it towards Lilycove, he had to wonder if the holidays were the best time to return home. The holidays themselves were amazing, yes, of course. But did he really want to feel that whole âYou gotta visit your familyâ vibe?
His parents were probably away, though. And his grandmother likely had a lot of visitors, so maybe he didnât have to travel back home.
As he rode on his PokĂ©monâs back, he finally arrived to Lilycove. The sun was still out, and the holidays were most definitely still kicking. He mustered up a smile as his Dodrio trotted through the city, both of them enjoying the sea breeze.Â
Hoenn. Not a place entirely unknown to the traveler, but compared to the amount of time heâd previously spent in Johto and Kanto, there was still a lot left that he had to explore. And the city he currently approached -- Lilycove, was it? -- was certainly a new experience for him.
Walking alongside his Mamoswine as they passed the entrance of the city, Kentaâs glanced around to scope out his new surroundings, trying to figure the place out the best he could within just a few moments of arrival. From what he had gathered from word of mouth, the city was awfully fond of itâs pokĂ©mon. Between itâs several fanclubs dedicated to trainers and contest stars, and even the contest halls themselves, there was no doubt this was a popular spot for any budding trainer in the community.
Unfortunately for Kenta, he couldnât give a Raticateâs ass about any of that. Right now, he was more focused on trying to find somewhere to rest.
Gloved hand holding onto the leather reigns carefully wrapped around Nainâs tusks, the dark-haired trainer figured the smartest thing to do would be to ask someone else for directions. And after a few moments of peering around at passers-by, he managed to spot a stranger on the back of a Dodrio trotting in his direction, who seemed significantly more confident in his whereabouts than Kenta himself.
â'Scuse me?â He called, holding an arm out to flag the man over. âI need help, if youâre not too busy...â

The last thing Azin had expected was to run into Kenta when the blonde walked into the Aspertia City pokemon center. He would have sworn that the other lived in Johto, but who was Az to decided where other trainers traveled. First things first though. Quietly he made his way over to the front desk, turning over his pokeballs for the nurses to do their job. That done with, he turned and carefully adjusted the egg in his grip. Making his way over, and being sure to avoid the large tyranitar, the taller plopped down on the bench next to the other.Â
âFunny seeing you here.â Az adjusted the egg on his lap, peering curiously at the other. âOh, you have a new addition to? Do you know what it is?â One of many reasons he had come to the pokemon center today. He had been hoping that one of the nurses here might recognize the egg he himself had acquired.Â
â... Huh?â
The sound of the familiar voice instantly caught his attention, head snapping upwards quickly to meet the source of the sound with a wide-eyed look of amazement. Azin? What was he doing there? The last time they had met had been in Johto, no doubt. But halfway across the world in a small Unovan town, here he was again. Blinking owlishly at the blond, Kenta could only nod dumbly for a moment.
Talk about an unexpected surprise -- one certainly more positive than negative. Traveling alone was something the dark haired trainer was more than used to by now, but a familiar face in a new region was always a... somewhat comforting sight.
âYeah...â He trailed off, answering the first two of Azâs statements at once. It was funny seeing the other here. And the egg he cradled in his lap certainly belonged to him. Itâs species, however, was completely unknown.
âDunno. I think itâs an electric type of some sort. Damn thing zaps you at random intervals.â Still, he seemed to hold onto it protectively. Almost like heâd gotten used to the tiny static shocks by now. âWhat about yours? They look pretty similar colour wise, but the patterns are completely different.â
The blonde hummed in agreement, smile growing as he played witness to the other trainers exasperation. Friendly banter, not something Az was often prone to. Honestly it was proving to be a better remedy for the trainerâs mood then anything else would.Â
Az followed the otherâs eyeline, looking to the trees. âI donât think the pokemon would just attack me. I am but a humble trainer trying to keep out of the way!â An obviously fake display of incredulity played across his face as mischief was clear in his gaze. âMiki isnât rummaging around today, itâs just me.â He raised an eyebrow at the other, âsorry to disappoint.â Not having any of his companions out along the trail really was unusual for the blonde. Maybe if he had just convinced Cori to help he would have found the town by now anyway. Bit late for thatâŠ. Oh well, he had a perfectly good trainer to bother now.
âI was originally on my way to the next town. Recently ran into an idiot who wouldnât take no for an answer. I won, the usual, so I was hopping to get a room for the night.â He sighed, turning to scowl back at the path. âBut it seems I was given a useless map that doesnât seem to know where itâs going let alone help someone else with directions.âÂ
He flopped back down on the ground. âWhatever Iâve already accepted my fate of another night alongside this damn trail.â
âKeeping out the way in plain eyesight, I see.â
The small smirk Kenta wore as he responded was quickly hidden, turning away in order to collect his belongings from the Mamoswineâs back. Apparently the wandering trainer had plans to stay for a while, even without an invitation to join the blond in his resting spot. It had been a few hours since their last break after all, and after all that walking Nain deserved a break at the very least.
The Mamoswine sat, and Kenta reached up, standing on his tiptoes in order to reach one of three large bags that contained the majority of his worldly possessions strapped down to the creatureâs back. The first contained only non-damageable items like clothing judging by the way he carelessly threw it to the ground beside him, but the second he treated with more care, clambering back down in order to set it on the grass gently.
âSince youâve doomed yourself to another night on an awful trail in the middle of nowhere, you might want to start setting up camp.â He teased, raising a brow as he turned to glance back towards Azin. âA patch of grass under a tree isnât exactly the best place to stay when night falls. But Iâm sure you already know that.â
the scent of whiskey
Itâs not something heâs really a fan of. Besides, as someone who spends most of his life outdoors and constantly moving, thereâs never really an appropriate time to drink the stuff -- or any other alcohol at all.
Ever tried to navigate your way through forests and caves with a hangover? Not the best of ideas.
That being said, the scent of it does remind him of a bar he found once while passing through Johto. He was only there for the food and a rest, but the person sitting not too far away had a glass of the stuff, and the smell was rather strong. As much as he dislikes the taste of Whiskey, the scent of it always takes him back to that one moment.
I just want to cuddle god dammit get ur rock loving ass over here
wOW so demanding jeez
    â...â
For a few moments, it appeared Kentaâs usual stoic expression was completely unchanging, simply staring at the blonde as he made the demand. But as the seconds passed by, the faint burning of his cheeks as they slowly became a not-so-subtle shade of pink made his sudden embarrassment very clear.
Sighing, his shoulders drooped as he exhaled. For some reason, the idea of such closeness was enough to make him instantly a little nervous. But it was a request he couldnât bring himself to deny, and if he was totally honest to himself, he didnât really want to.
Moving close enough to wrap his arms around Azinâs waist, he buried his face into the otherâs shoulder as he muttered something unintelligible about shameless PDA. Though, it was pretty clear by the way he curled his fingers into the fabric of Azinâs jacket as he closed his eyes to savor the close proximity that he was enjoying this just as much as the blond himself.

Sitting on the tile floor of the local pokĂ©center, Kenta peered down at the yellow and blue egg that rested comfortably in his lap. It had been a long while since heâd visited such a place, and while natural options for healing his team were always available in the form of different berries, with everyone as tired as they were, a visit to the center was deemed the best course of action.
Out of his team, only Havoc currently remained by his side. The others were being checked over by the nurses, but the Tyranitar was stubborn enough to stay by his trainerâs side as he waited, and being unable to physically shift a stubborn 500 pound rock-monster, the wandering trainer was given little choice but to keep him in his company.
But as insistent as the Tyranitar had been, it hadnât taken long before the large pokĂ©mon had dozed off, slumbering on the pokĂ©center floor as Kenta remained propped up against the creatureâs side, left with only his thoughts as he turned his new-found egg over in his hands.
âWonder what youâre gonna be,â he muttered out loud to himself, entirely unaware of the strange looks he received from where he sat. âKinda small, for an egg.â
Since memories triggered by scent are the strongest...
Send my muse a scent and see how theyâll react to it.
You found a PokĂ©mon Egg! It doesnât seem close to hatching⊠When it does, it will be a Joltik!
A brow is raised at the seemingly abandoned egg that lay at the trainerâs feet. For a moment, heâs unsure if he should even touch it. The parents could be anywhere nearby after all, and he didnât want another angry mother pokĂ©mon on his case.
Arceus knows how badly that went for him last time.
Still, the clearing he stood at seemed to be fairly empty. The route itself appeared to be pretty abandoned, with even wild pokémon encounters happening rather sparsely. With a defeated sigh, he leans down to scoop the oddly coloured egg up, brushing dirt from the shell as he examined it.
For all he knew, it wasnât even wild; dropped and left behind in the middle of the path. If he didnât take it, there was no chance of it surviving alone in such cold weather...
Looks like fate had brought him a new team member.
Incredibly frustrated didnât properly describe Azinâs feelings towards today. For someone who wasnât prone to getting himself lost he did a good job of it. The simmering resentment directed at the flimsy map scrunched up in his pocket had kept most of the trainers focus. Then the bumbling idiot wandered in on his furry elephant to disturb the peace of the forest.Â
okay maybe I need to cool down that sounded rude even in my headâŠ.
It was nice to see a familiar face, though, and by far wasnât something he was going to turn down. The other trainer would hopefully be able to direct him in the right direction as well, being as heâs supposedly from the region. Anything was better then lying on the ground staring at the sky till he felt like walking again.
With a sigh the blonde looked up at Kenta, headache over the matter slowly dying. âI believe it was along the lines of âyou shouldnât do thatâ but my memory might be a bit hazy on the reasoning.â Az managed to crack a smile, pushing himself into a sitting position as he faced the other. âWhat are you doing here? Doesnât seem like a busy path.â
Glancing back at the Mamoswine who waited hesitantly nearby, Kenta pulled the thick glove from one hand and raised his fingers to his lips, blowing sharply to make a shrill whistling sound. The signal was an âall clearâ for the pokĂ©mon, who seemed somewhat surprised at first to hear the loud noise, but soon came wandering closer with Kentaâs belongings in tow.
âThe reasoning was that you look like a sitting duck for any wild pokĂ©mon who see lone travelers as an easy target.â There was a pause as Kenta looked upwards, silver eyes scanning the trees for any hidden flying-types, like the otherâs Talonflame from last time. Spotting no bird-like pokĂ©mon in the trees, he soon turned his attention back to the blond, a single brow raising.
âSame as usual. Just following the road. It seemed like a peaceful route, if not a little out of the way... What are you doing here?â
@trainerkenta
He sighed, today was ranked right up there with one of the most annoying days to date. Azin had been walking this path for who knows how long and as of yet has run into nothing. Not another person. Not any wild pokemon. Most importantly though not even a town in site for the past however many miles.
and here all I wanted was a warm meal and a bed for once
When he had thought about traveling to Johto for a bit to actually explore, he sure hadnât been planning on getting this lost. If he was lost. There is a path and all and its on the map but at this rate he was about to give up on the map and just go his own way in all honesty. Literally he just didnât want to spend another night on this route when the lying map said Cherrygrove was nearby.Â
you know what he shoved the map in his pack and sighed. Yup, the ground here looked just fine. Totally comfortable and a perfect place to give up for the day.
âDone. Iâm done. I one hundred percent do not feel like walking anymore.â
He plopped down on the side of the path, staring up at the canopy above him. Maybe if he could see through trees the clouds could entertain himâŠ
They really had to stop meeting like this.
Kenta had been sitting atop of Nain when heâd noticed the other resting on the side of the path, but it wasnât until he started guiding the Mamoswine with heavy leather reigns carefully wrapped around the pokĂ©monâs tusks to go closer that he recognized just who the person actually was.
A small tug on the reigns caused the mammoth-like creature to stop in itâs tracks, and a gentle pat of appreciation for carrying both him and his belongings so far was given before the trainer cautiously hopped off in order to approach the fellow traveler himself.
âWhat have I told you about just laying around like that?â Kenta spoke as he stepped forwards, not bothering with the polite greetings that he usually put on for strangers. And while his tone seemed thoroughly unamused, the slight smirk curving at the corner of his mouth proved otherwise. Part of him was a little thankful to see a familiar face after exploring the region alone for so long, after all.
The look on Kentaâs face made the whole thing worth it. The half-amused smirk the blondeâs antics brought out was a particular favorite. Azâs laughter died off, but the air of amusement never left the ranger. âI mean, it is only appropriate.â The wink thrown at the other ranger was out of character, but not outside Azinâs sense of humor.Â
The tree above rustled with a passing breeze, upsetting the already messy bun Az had been sporting as the two relaxed on the side of the trail. âInsults are important though!â He moved to lean his head on the others lap, chin resting on crossed arms. His position on the ground allowed for the blonde ranger to get a good look at his boyfriendâs face.Â
âFirstly, being able to sign insults at someone keeps them from knowing. This keeps them from being able to do anything about it.â A smirk crossed on his lips as a hand played with his perpetually messed up hair. A number of instances crossed Azinâs mind where he flipped at other people, the lack of understanding from them proving amusing at points. âAnd secondly, you should always stay up to date on your insults. Therefore you can call anyone out on insulting you. Itâs only appropriate.â Though there were few people to cross his path who did know how to sign, when it did happen the ranger got enjoyment out of a silent conversation.Â
Rolling his eyes at the wink thrown his way, Kenta let out an exaggerated sigh, his hand moving from the blondâs hair to cover the front of his face completely as if pushing him away. The rangerâs faux-disgusted expression didnât last long however, with his hand quickly making itâs way back into Azinâs hair as he made Kentaâs lap his own personal cushion, peering down with a hint of fondness in silver eyes.
âI donât know about you, but if I were to insult a person, Iâd want them to know.â While certainly not an aggressive person by nature, Kenta found no point in hiding anything he had to say. Unlike the blond leaning against him, who seemed to get a kick out of outsmarting others when antagonizing them. âIsnât that the whole point of insulting someone in the first place? To let them know theyâre being a dick.â
Or, in Azinâs case, being a little shit.
âYou have a point about the âstaying up to dateâ thing, though. But--â Another playful nudge to Azinâs side. âUnless there are a bunch of verbally abusive people who only communicate through sign language, chances are Iâm just going to use this on you in the future.â
He just shouldnât have said anything, left the trainer to walk to Lilycove on his own. Itâs not like the idiot would be able to get lost the trail was very straight forward. Most people didnât travel to Fortree anyway unless they had plans to challenge the gym, and often not then either. The city in the trees was often a quiet home which was just fine for the gym leader.
Killian fought the sigh that threatened to leave his lips, instead turing his back on the trainer to face his destination yet again. âItâs straight down the path for the most part, it then breaks off to go deeper into the trees from the main trailâŠâŠ.â Someone please shoot him he is going to regret this decision Killian could feel it, âIâm headed that way anyway Iâll show you.â
fucking idiot you should just leave him and fly offâŠâŠ. but the trainer might just make you get back that much slower. ugh.
âSounds simple enough.â He could have sworn the directions scrawled down on the piece of paper heâd been given were much more long-winded, though he had been given it by a rather chatty old woman. Either this man was lying to him about the simplicity of the route, or the woman had given him the scenic tour version.
Adjusting the strap of his backpack, Kenta raised his hand to his mouth and gave a sharp whistle; a well known signal amongst his team, telling them to stop whatever they were doing, and continue on the path. Obediently, the Gliscor who had wandered away swooped back to her trainerâs side, but before they could even take a step in the right direction, Kenta completely froze upon hearing the otherâs words.
âShow me?â Oh. He was going to come along, too? Not exactly ideal, considering Kenta was rather weary of anything involving staying in a strangerâs company for a lengthy period of time. But to refuse would be rude. Looks like he had little choice.
âSure... Lead the way.â
