LuSan headcanon

A tie is so much more than just a tie. To Luffy, a tie is easy access.

Luffy wants to kiss? Grab a hold of Sanji's tie and urge his head down. Quick sweet kisses are pressed to the chef's cheeks and throat. Maybe even a bit of a marking bite just above the height of his collar.

Luffy wants attention immediately? Give Sanji's tie a few soft tugs to drawn his focus. It always earns Luffy his hair being ruffle. The tactile stimulation brings a smile to his face and boost his energy levels as he giggles.

Luffy feeling particularly territorial? Grab Sanji's tie and a firm tug. Dragging the cook onto his lap. One of Luffy's hands gripping the tie like a leash as his other hand sits possessively on the blond's hip. The captain's nose pressed to the cook's warm throat while glaring over Sanji's shoulder at potential threats.

Luffy thinks Sanji's working too much? Grab the silk tie and slip the knots free. Tie the chef's hands behind his back with the incredibly soft material. Just hoist the bound chef over the captain's shoulder and carry him to the calm of the aquarium room for an afternoon of snuggling and watching the fish.

Luffy can't stop fidgeting while cuddling? Just stroke the smooth, soothing texture of the tie's material while snuggled in Sanji's arms. A calming fidget toy that keeps Luffy from running off before either one has had enough cuddles.

A tie is never a blindfold. Never something to make Sanji feel trapped and frightened in the darkness.

A tie is a lifeline.

Something I’m passionate about is AUDHD Luffy (meaning he’s autistic with ADHD) just like I am! So I’m gonna jot down some thoughts I have in regards as to why!

Let’s start underneath this read more!

Remember that being neurodivergent is a spectrum! My experience as an autistic woman with adhd won’t be the exact same as another person with the same conditions!

Luffy tends to hyperfocus on tasks he finds rewarding. This is pretty common in people with ADHD inattentive type. We’ve seen him straight up take a nap in the middle of the road before getting up to finish kicking someone’s ass

Only remembering details or names if they’re important to him

He can be seen masking throughout the series. Probably to escape being called a “crybaby” as a child.

His way to motivate or cheer other people up is unconventional. Certain emotions from others like crying make him uncomfortable. Probably reminds him of being teased for not regulating his emotions “normally” as a child.

Can be seen doing different stims throughout the series. Stims can be anything for a ND person, not just arm flapping as portrayed in popular media.

Contrary to stereotypes not all autistic people are “emotionless.” Plenty of us get overly excited or enthusiastic around others.

Luffy is incredibly blunt and usually gets shit for it. This happened to me all the time growing up and I’d never understand how I wasn’t being “tactful.”

Luffy tends to take stuff literally such as the concept of bananawani

He has his comfort foods and gets upset when he doesn’t have them. Meat is an obvious example.

He values certain senses over others. It’s clear he loves what I call “mouth feel” or having something in your mouth to chew on and keep your attention.

Has safe clothing items he likes to wear over and over. I completely relate to his hatred of close toed shoes and wanting to wear baggy clothes all the time.

The hat is a comfort object

Has unusual reactions to pain and body temperature compared to others. Being rubber helps with that though

Cannot process sarcasm to save his life

Is impulsive and kind of assumed everyone can read his mind when it comes to how he’s going to approach a problem and solve it

That’s just some observations I have for now! Some other time I’ll add my headcanons onto this post of stuff I think he would do but we don’t see on camera!

Neurodivergent Luffy (headcanon)

It's no surprise that Luffy has ADHD.

As such, he has various relationships with auditory and visual stimulation.

Most days, Luffy is extremely under stimulated. He needs noise and attention and like five things to do at once or he'll get fussy and maybe whine a little bit. But he'll be fine because the crew is loud and fun.

But when he's over stimulated, rare as that is, there is problems. It quickly leads to frayed nerves and a bad mood that borders on frightening. He will find a way to make it quiet, even if he needs to use haki to do it.

Often an overstimulated Luffy needs quiet and only a single crew mate around him at a time. Usually someone who can keep quiet while they hug him. This tends to be Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Nami, or Jinbei.

Franky, Usopp, Chopper, and Brook tender to chatter too much because their first impulse is to try and verbally calm him down. Which just does not help.

A fic I would like to see is Luffy drinking alcohol for the first time, and his mind slows down. He can focus. He goes to Robin and asks her to teach him something. And he pays attention to it.

I want a fic where Luffy breaks down upon being able to do something and being able to *focus*

I want a fic with the crew stopping Luffy from self-medicating with alcohol. I want a fic where Luffy gets the help he needs, feels the fear of realizing that your inattentiveness is something that isn't apart of your personality- but a medical condition. Something that can be helped. I want the fear of the inattention going away, because what are you without that?

I want a fic of Luffy getting medicated and realizing he's not stupid, he just couldn't focus long enough to learn.

I want a fic of all the scary parts of learning you have adhd and the treatment of it.
