ADHD and non-prescription treatments
Well, finally, I did it. I found my ideal ADHD-I supplement. It's Mucuna Pruriens. Taken with vinpocetine, rhodiola, MSM, and tyrosine in the morning and with bacopa and passionflower at night, it literally makes my brain quiet. QUIET. It mimics what Strattera used to do. I can concentrate on a single task with no intruding thoughts. The mind tv is no longer set to a thousand channels at once. I'm...silently freaking the fuck out. It seems to also help with anxiety and spasticity, a little, although if my animal brain feels attacked enough I still can't help the physiological terror reaction. Baby steps, though. I feel so relieved. I’ve always been able to react to drugs quickly, and supplements have been included, which is how I know they’re doing something beyond a placebo. Right now, the brands I’m moving between are Source Naturals, Vitacost, Piping Rock, Puritan’s Pride, Swanson Vitamins, Now Foods; those are the ones I trust. Looks like professional scientists did what I did and gave ADHD an alternative nickname, "Sluggish Cognitive Tempo" - not as cute as my Cognitive Attentive Tempo Syndrome, but still. Janna from @actuallyadhd, do you have thoughts aside from what we discussed on Facebook? I know supplements won’t work for everyone, especially not since that whole Dr Oz crap. But I love when I see people saying that supplements do good things. I love to balance pharmaceuticals and supplementals. Also, I think in my fanfics, I gave Mikey a tea blend containing Mucuna and Bacopa and Rhodiola. The scent of fresh Mucuna is amazing, BTW. https://nootriment.com/mucuna-pruriens-dopamine/ https://thinkgum.wordpress.com/tag/adhd-alternative/ http://www.primarilyinattentiveadd.com/2011/06/rhodiola-for-attention-deficit-disorder.html
