a;sdlfj Listen, she’s my absolute favorite, I love her with all my heart.Don’t get me wrong, I love Persephone, Andromache (seriously, I feel like she’s so under represented and I love her!!!!), and Athena (in fact, long, long ago she was my icon), but Ariadne takes my heart above all others. Including Medea, who happens to be the subject to probably my favorite Euripides play. Who, it should be noted, is my favorite Ancient Greek Tragedian. But I cannot seem to let Ariadne go. Her story is fascinating to me----a princess, probably raised from birth to become high priestess in the Minoan cult. She takes pity on an Athenian, despite the fact that she knows he will likely kill her brother, and she helps him. Abandoned on Naxos. But I think the best part is the fact that Ariadne’s story does not end there. Dionysus finds her, and perhaps they don’t get along at first, but they learn to love each other. She becomes his consort, and he puts her wedding diadem in the stars, and she is immortal.
