Can I get 76 for todoroki. Him and his s/o were attacked by villains and the s/o gets hurt? Thanks and I love this blog❤️
I hope you’re ready for angst because that’s what you’re getting!
Don’t worry there is a happy ending
It was turning out to be a tough fight.
Both of you knew going into the hero business was dangerous, you had experienced the worst going through UA as that unlucky year of students. Today hadn’t been much different, the villain alliance had made a new surge onto the scene after having been quiet for a couple years. No one truly believed they had been gone, but that hadn’t stopped many of them from hoping.
You and Todoroki had been together since you graduated, both as a couple and as a hero team, your quirks complimenting each other perfectly. His fire and ice used as cover and protection for your anti-gravity quirk. You could utilize any surface at any angle, walking and leaping between things, orienting yourself effortlessly between jumps. Todoroki often threw up ice walls that you could skate across, out of reach of the opponent until you dropped down on them from above. He also used his flames as distractions as you scaled impossible walls effortlessly or jumped from place to place to strike out with the bokken you carried.
They had been prepared, these villains, they had isolated the both of you, cutting you off from any aid. Despite being targeted, you dearly hoped the others we’re fairing alright. Todoroki was as cool as ever, at least on the surface. Only someone who knew him well could spot the ferocious way he used his elements and the frantic glances he sent your way as you bounced from place to place striking as many foes as possible. He was worried, so were you, you were vastly outnumbered and these were not just thugs off the street, nearly every fighter on the other side knew what they were doing.
You had insisted on this partnership, you couldn’t stand to see Todoroki crumble under his father’s thumb. He had nearly taken the position at his Father’s agency despite that, but when you outright refused to give up, he gave in and joined you at Fourth Kind’s agency until Bakugou and Deku recruited the both of you for their own agency. Actually, it had been more like Bakugou demanding Todoroki join them and Deku kindly reminding him that you and he were a package deal.
Help wasn’t coming, the explosions came no closer, and the bursts of dust from the most powerful kicks you had ever seen barely reached where you were still fighting. You knew that others were fighting too, but nothing could compare to the fury of Japan’s top two heroes. Nothing except apparently whatever was keeping them away from their friends.
“This can’t go on much longer,” you hissed, “I’m reaching my limit, I can barely orient properly anymore,”
“We have to keep fighting,” Todoroki growled, “There isn’t any other choice,”
“I know that!” you cried, narrowly avoiding a tackle aimed at you but hopping onto the underside of the fire escape in the alley you had ducked into, “But you can’t keep pushing yourself either!”
You had confessed to him in 3rd year after finally working up the courage. He hadn’t reacted at all, in fact he stared at you blankly until you realized he was stuck processing your confession.
“I really really like you Todoroki,” you said again, “And that means I want you to be my boyfriend,” you clarified before your face went redder than it already was, as much as you ducked your head to try hiding behind your hair, “That is, if you want to?”
“I want to,” You had almost missed his response, but he repeated it again, a couple times actually, like he was trying to sound confident about it.
“It’s okay Shoto, I think once was perfect,” you took his hand in yours and the rest was history.
That was the last thing Todoroki heard you say before a huge villain crashed through a wall into the alley, sending his s/o crashing to the ground, buried by rubble.
“Y/N!” he screamed as he let his flames lose, driving the hulking figure away before unleashing a huge burst of ice to close up the hole and much of the rest of the alley. He made a beeline to the pile of rubble where he knew his s/o had fallen under and dug through the pieces frantically. His worst nightmare was coming true, they were hurt and there had been nothing he could have done.
“Y/N!?” he cried again as he dug, his hands were raw but he didn’t care. He had to find them, he couldn’t lose them like this. A few times there was a sound of approach, but Todoroki simply raised another wall and another until the small section of broken building and pavement was ringed in ice. There was no way anyone was getting in, and even if they could, there would be enough time for him to open up a way to escape. He wouldn’t escape until Y/N was safe by his side again.
“He doesn’t get a say,” you asserted, “But neither do I. It’s your choice Todoroki, it’s your life not his,” You unwittingly used Deku’s words to him from their first year at the sports festival and coming from you, someone he cherished, they hit him just as hard as they had when his now longtime friend had said them all those years back.
“Thank you, Y/N,” he smiled slightly, his entire posture more relaxed then it had just been, “I choose you, I’ll always choose you because your dear to me in a way I can’t even begin to describe,”
You laughed, but it was light and happy, like the chiming of a bell in Todoroki’s ears, “I’m so glad! And I understand the feeling well enough, because I feel the same way,”
The first thing he saw was their hand, and the clearly broken arm it was attached to. He gritted his teeth and dug it out enough that he could lay it flat and ice it gently as he dug the rest of them out of the rubble. For the most part it was easy, smaller chunks of the brick, but as he uncovered more and more of them, he discovered a much larger chunk had pinned their whole torso down. He frantically dug out their head and shoulders, praying with all his might that they were alive.
He almost gave up when he finally unearthed their head, which was bleeding quite a bit, the bright red contrasting the stark paleness of their skin. He almost gave up right there until he saw the slight motion behind one of their eyelids. He ducked his head close and could feel a slight puff of air as they tried to breath.
He started working with new purpose, he had to get them out of there as soon as he could, he got rid of as many smaller pieces as he could before all that was left was the concrete pillar lying across their torso.
The first date he took you on had been to a park near the campus, it had been a beautiful day and he had packed a lunch that you both ate up on the top of a hill overlooking the whole park. The best part of the day had been when he had poured your drink and made tiny ice chips shaped like flowers to put in as well. You had been so awed by it that you asked him to make more, and soon you were surrounded by a whole garden’s worth of ice flowers of different kinds. You looked so pretty to him, poking at them as they melted away in the sun and smiling up at him when he cooled the ground enough to maintain them for a while.
They still looked pretty to him, covered in dirt and blood, but as he managed to pry away the pillar with some carefully placed ice, he found it harder and harder to keep his focus, because was lay underneath was anything but pretty. There was no telling to what extent the damage done would even be recoverable, Todorki’s logical mind told him. His carefully guarded emotional side was tearing him apart, begging him to just scoop them up and run. He dropped down beside them, leaning down to their face again and he still felt that tell tale puff of air, barely anything at all, but it was proof they were still alive. He laid a couple fingers at their neck and felt the faint flutter of a pulse. He wasn’t sure when the tears had started, but he kept having to blink to clear his vision so he could memorize everything about them.
The first time he had met your parents had been the most outwardly nervous you had ever seen him. He was unusually frantic, but you reassured him that they would like him no matter what happened. When you met his mother, because he insisted you meet her first, you began to understand. Meeting his father, the at the time number one hero, solidified things for you. Dinners with your family became more frequent and you always brought flowers when he brought you to visit his mother. He never said anything about your avoidance of his father, but you had a feeling he welcomed the excuses you created just for that purpose.
He didn’t know what to do, he had nowhere to go. There was no way the villains would let them go without capturing or killing one of them. They nearly had already. His s/o still lay before him very still and barely hanging on. There was nothing more he wanted than to turn back time and tell them not to use that fire escape, to suggest escape instead of avoidance. He wanted to keep them on the ground where he had been, completely clear of falling and being crushed as they had. But he knows he can’t so he will do what he can and defend them until help can arrive, because he knows his friends, that they won’t ever give up on each other.
“Dammit! You scared me!” you yelled at him after a battle where you had been separated.
“I didn’t mean to,” he said flatly.
“I know that, but please, I can’t stand not knowing if you’re okay,” you sniffed, “Maybe that’s selfish of me…”
“It’s not,” Todoroki shook his head, “I was reckless, but so were you,”
“What?” you blinked at his offhanded rebuff.
“You changed your gravity for a target four whole blocks away,” he stated, “That’s dangerous, even with your support gear, falling that far could hurt you,”
“I-” you paused, “Yeah, that was pretty far, I’ll be a bit more careful next time,”
“I will try not to stray too far from you,” Todoroki gave his assurance in return.
“No, I’m sorry Shoto, my complaint is really nothing,” you tried to deflect it.
“You were worried about me, so it isn’t nothing,” He hugged you, “Partners should stick together to watch out for one another, going alone has never ended well,” You sank into the hug and returned it, burying your face into the shoulder of his suit. You agreed with him there, being alone without him was a scary thought.
There was chipping at the ice walls now, and the sounds of battle leaking through the cracks. Todoroki couldn’t tell if it was friend or foe, but at this point, he hardly cared. They were slipping away, he could feel their faint heartbeat stuttering and slowing, as their body continued to bleed, and their breaths occasionally didn’t come. He had already been breathing for them on occasion, just to make sure there was some oxygen getting through, but one of their lungs wasn’t working, either flooded or collapsed.
Just before this battle, you had been teasing him, “Come on, even the reporters doubt we’re in love,”
“But I do,” he mutters, “I do love you,” a slight crease in his brow to show his annoyance.
“I’m kidding, I know,” You sigh, lowering your voice so only he can hear you, “I hear it in every word you say to me, and I see it in everything you do,” That smooths the crease and results in a slight upturn of his lips before he sneakily presses them to the top of your head.
He can’t feel your heartbeat anymore.
No more air crosses your lips.
He can feel the heat slipping from your body.
“You need to wake up because I can’t do this without you!”
“He didn’t exactly make it easy for us. He almost torched us all when we got through all that ice,” Deku chuckled slightly before it fell short again, “He looked devastated, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an expression that vivid on his face. I’d rather not see it again if this is what it takes to bring it out of him,”
You had woken up in a hospital, weighed down by bandages and drugs for all the damage your body had sustained. Deku had been visiting and was currently filling you in on what had happened. Todoroki was in the chair beside your bed, face down and sleeping with your hand clutched in his.
“If it was as bad as I feel right now, I think I can skip having an expressive Shoto,” You said slowly, having to take a few breaths in between the words.
Deku nodded, “He really does love you, he almost didn’t let Kacchan take you so he could fly you out of the battle zone and get you to some paramedics. Mei’s fold-out stretcher did its job, even flying through the air,”
“I’ll have to get her to redo my costume,” you nodded, “Her stuff is the best,”
“Tell her that and she’ll do double the work for the same price, you’ll probably end up with some crazy contraption that you won’t even need,” Deku really laughed this time, causing Todoroki to wake with a start.
He looked between the two of you, the wheels turning in his head before tears slipped down his face.
“I’m right here Shoto,” you smile for him, “I wouldn’t dare leave you all alone,”
