Surgeon!Wonwoo

Definitely wearing wired glasses both in school and as a surgeon

Had a fascination with patching things up as a young child

If he wasn’t reading books about renowned doctors in the past, he was sewing things together with surgical precision

His mom gave him quite a few side eyes and grimaces as the other kids were running around at the park and Wonwoo was happily content, sewing up his torn teddy bear in perfect fashion

His academic hobbies and shyness didn’t garner him a lot of friends, but he always had 12 rowdy boys by his side who encouraged his medical dreams

Soonyoung would always run to Wonwoo if he got hurt, knowing how happy it made Wonwoo to be able to patch him up and put the bandaid on

In high school, one single biology class sealed the deal for his dreams as a surgeon

Dissecting a cow’s heart

The excited (and arguably psychotic) smile on his face scared his biology teacher

Wonwoo was a little distracted and accidentally squirted a bunch of cow liquid on Jihoon’s face, resulting in Jun’s snickering from the other side of the room

Wonwoo and Jun weren’t heard from for the rest of the day

Graduating as valedictorian of his year, he entered one of the top medical schools in South Korea

Mingyu’s cooking and copious amounts of coffee were the only thing that got Wonwoo through the torturous years of medical school

He was far too busy to ever bat an eye to anyone else besides his 12 brothers

Jisoo and Soonyoung were always in charge of rejecting avid girls that tried to make romantic advances towards Wonwoo

The mysterious yet enthusiastic intern rushing around the hospital became a reputable cardiac surgeon within a few years

On the morning of his first day as head of cardiac surgery, Seungcheol was freshening him up to make “a good impression to the grandmas who will be swooning over their new doctors”

Enter Wonwoo with a pristine powder blue shirt, black slacks and a fresh white coat

His hair was even gelled up (as per Minghao’s request) and his wired glasses looked sharper than ever

The get up didn’t stop him from petting the neighbourhood stray cats perched on the road outside his apartment building though

Except there was another figure crouched outside, a comforted cat rubbing itself against her outstretched hands. There were even small piles of cat food dotted along the edges of the road

All the cats ran up to surround Wonwoo and dance between his legs

You turned around to see an incredibly sophisticated man looking shy and awkward with 6 cats clawing at his pants

He flashed a toothy smile and you swore you saw a beam of light cast over him because you didn’t know if it was because it was 7 am or you were deprived of beautiful things around you but

What a charming man.

Being late to feeding the stray cats just got a whole lot better

Greetings were exchanged but Wonwoo couldn’t stay for long, so he left only knowing your name and your habit of feeding the cats every morning

The fleeting encounter was back-burnered though when Wonwoo loses his first patient in his new position

Despite his expertise and experience, and despite the revolutionary technology proposed by him in the field of cardiology, he still couldn’t fight the odds and loses the patient

Psychologist Seokmin helps him cope, but the stress and demands of Wonwoo’s job prevent him from progressing

A pet therapy centered around cats (and aptly named CaTherapy) is being offered at the hospital and Seokmin suggests Wonwoo to babysit some of the kittens while the volunteers work around the hospital

So Wonwoo visits the cat room for the first time and is instantly greeted with kittens flouncing and jumping over his feet

The short periods he has to babysit the kittens help him immensely and Seokmin alongside everyone else is relieved that Wonwoo is finally feeling better

When Wonwoo visits the cat room one last time before he’s working full time again, he sees the same figure, crouched and petting one of the grey kittens

Even though he isn’t looking as fresh as last time (Seungcheol was passed out on his couch when he left this morning), he greets you with an easy smile

You look slightly startled as a flush instantly colours your cheeks and your face breaks into a smile

Each with a cat in hand and both cross legged on the floor, he introduces himself as a cardiac surgeon at the hospital, and you introduce yourself as the director of the CaTherapy program

You thank him for babysitting the cats, since the volunteers could now work more with the patients rather than constantly rushing back to make sure the cats hadn’t caused a havoc

He listens intently as you share the beginnings of the program and your passion for helping both animals and people

The supposed ‘short’ conversation becomes an hour long, and although Wonwoo’s working full hours again, he’s always stopping by the cat room and you move your workspace from the hospital cafe to the room.

Conversations during lunch breaks become conversations as you leave the hospital and return to the neighbourhood

As bubbling feelings churn between you two, Wonwoo in his shy and cat loving fashion, confesses with a note attached to the collar of the same grey kitten he saw you petting when you first saw each other in the cat room

The kitten has no idea what’s happening but is happy that both its parents look as excited as when it gets treats

Minghao points out Wonwoo’s radiating smile as all 13 of them gathered to watch a horror movie

“A serial killer sure is exciting enough for a smile.” Sarcasm was dripping off his words

You stay over at Wonwoo’s once when you had to take in a sick kitten from the program

Seeing Wonwoo sleeping on the couch with a kitten in his arms almost made you melt into a puddle on the floor

It almost scared you a little hearing that he had 12 best friends since he was a child because the two of you weren’t exactly the most sociable pair

They welcomed you with open arms and nutritionist Mingyu was especially excited since he now had another test subject for his food creations

From then on, you two saw his friends EVERYWHERE

Seokmin would find you two lining up at the hospital cafe, hand in hand, and smile while saying “Wonwoo I helped you get better AND found you a girlfriend. Who’s the wingman now?’

Senior nurse Jeonghan always teases you two for the matching cat pins you and Wonwoo wear on your uniforms

Jeonghan loses the fight when you point out the dinosaur pin he wears for Chan

Insert Wonwoo piling all the kittens into your lap and laying his head on your shoulder as gratitude for helping him escape the embarrassment

Seungcheol is convinced that you two are cat loving grandparents until he sees you screaming just as hard as Wonwoo as you lose another round to him at Overwatch

As you volunteered at the cat shelter every weekend, you start bringing Wonwoo there too

He charms all the old ladies there even though he just rambles on about the importance of preventing cardiac diseases with a healthy lifestyle

When Wonwoo has rubber kitchen gloves and a floral pattern apron on to wash the animals, you can’t help but laugh and take a million pictures to show Seungkwan

He ends up “accidentally” dousing you in water (Jihoon may have taught him a few things in their youth)

Memorable moments aside, you’re Wonwoo’s number one supporter when he goes through grief and intense stress because of his career

He may love doing surgery and helping others, but you can’t turn a blind eye to the negatives that shackle him sometimes when things get really rough

While he’s laying in your lap and you’re running your hands in his chocolate locks, he really feels the warmth that runs through his veins whenever he’s in your presence

Your careful intuition towards his sensitivity keep him going and pursuing the career he loves

Of course, Wonwoo may be good at patching things up and fixing broken hearts

But you and the kittens are definitely better at fixing his’ up.

Litha (or general summer) magic bath!

Hello everyone here’s a simple Litha Magic bath. The ingredients are simply things that remind me of summer and of the sun. You can take and add whatever you choose as long as you remember to feel magical :) -Jen

Rose hips / dried or fresh roses

Rose Quartz (on the edge of the tub)

Dried or fresh orange peels Mint, Rosemary, or whatever herbs remind you of summer

Restart (Day 218)

Synopsis: In a different universe, an experiment designed to calculate the science behind love, resulting in millions having their soulmates replaced constantly. A compilation of Seokmin’s journal of the 218 days where you lose him as a soulmate and he’s supposed to lose you as his. He honestly just misses you dearly.

Day 1

You used to love sewing.

We used to sit on the couch together, under the blanket you made from scraps. The hoodies I no longer wore and your hundreds of floral leggings. You named it Floofscraps, and you never explained why because you would be consumed by the cute giggles that echoed from the cardboard looking walls. It was somehow miraculously warm under the giant blanket, but I never knew whether it was because of your presence or the truly magical properties of the scrap fabrics. Floofscraps smelled uniquely like us; your fresh scent intertwining the woody cologne that stood in the tiny bathroom of ours. Sometimes it feels like your scent is still wafting into my senses. I can’t describe it to you now, but it was refreshing. Painful. Dumb sugar cookies.

I remember the scene exactly; you nestled between my legs and my chin resting against your baby soft locks. I would always jokingly complain about your hair from the mess of a bun always atop your head getting into my eyes. The television would be playing the trashiest soap, the cackling sounds of forced laughter drilled in our heads at 3 am. We always watched those because you said it was a guarantee for my smile that you loved.

Fairy lights would be the only light source in the dingy living room, a few of them dimmed because the two of us would blindly trip on them when we had them on the floor instead of the walls. You always explained that the fairy lights on the floor gave ‘better ambience’, although I could never tell a difference. Your dream was to have a fairyland apartment that mimicked your crazy childhood dreams. It was your explanation for the room mist you bought that had holographic sparkles sprinkled in the liquid.

It was those moments where your cheeks would flush red from the heat of the blanket. It was those moments where your fingers were entangled with mine, you drawing dancing stars on my hand with your thumb. It was those moments where I could always explain why I smiled unknowingly. It was because of you. All of you.

Now your laugh only exists in the distant realm of my memories. Floofscraps is somewhere in this universe. The soaps stopped airing. Your holographic room mist only exists as a distant glow far far away from me.

I love you.

Day 13

You used to love cooking. Or at least the idea of it.

A pancake got stuck on our ceiling once. It was those Japanese souffle pancakes you were dying to try. One flip and it was no longer in the pan, but on the ceiling. The circle your lips formed mirrored the pancake exactly, as whispers of a laugh began to bubble from my mouth. You were on my shoulders in the next moment, the pastel spatula I bought for you on a whim raised high above your head as you tried to reach for the pancake. I hated the frown that settled on your lips when we got the scraps of the pancake down. It felt like stars showered over my shoulders when you were in my arms, your sour face pressed against my chest as I told you how adorable you looked in your worn blush apron.

The previously pristine ceiling now had an unequal circle print. You’d look up at it while we were arguing and suddenly burst into laughter, the event flooding back to you as if it happened yesterday. We vowed to never tell anyone about the odd spot on the ceiling, instead explaining to guests that it was just a mark from a badly installed light fixture. The little secret between us was a glimpse of joy in our lives when my voice could never project the way I wanted and your days were as dismal as a kicked puppy.

And to think that now, my days of dismal were nothing compared to my everyday now. I don’t even want to attempt to sing into the microphone anymore.

I miss you.

Day 22

The roads were drowning in snow today. I had earphones plugged in as I walked around our area and I ended up at our favourite cafe. I glanced into the condensated window until I saw you. You weren’t alone though; there was another man in your presence. He seems like he’s your type, and you definitely seem to clash heads with him less than you did with me. I hope he remembers what you’re allergic to. I saw you two smiling and chatting happily in our favourite cafe. Did you know that Jiyoung, your favourite barista, opened a new cafe near my place now? Although you wouldn’t recognise her even if she still worked at our favourite cafe though. Oh how I truly hate this system.

Watching you two from the glass pane, snow sticking to the threads standing from my coat, I realized he’s giving you all that I couldn’t give you. The space you needed when you were cranky and tired, emotional resilience from the other person in the relationship; the attention you deserved because he isn’t busy in his studio as you have your dinner cold and alone for the 4th time that week. It isn’t a coincidence to see how long it took you to love me and how long it took you to love him. I poured every single speck of myself on you in an instance, overwhelming your personal space and creating an awkward aura that never seems to subside with anyone in my life.

I hope he knows your order at the cafe. Iced vanilla latte that gave you brain freeze in every sip for the summer, or hot chocolate for when the cold is so unbearable you’re enclosed in your furry white scarf and rosey ear muffs. You loved snow days and you’d sit at the cafe all day, staring at the fluttering flurries decorating the pavement outside the window.

He seems like a nice man. I can see it in his eyes; he loves you dearly. And your eyes sparkle as he talks animatedly. I know you love him too, but you’re too afraid to admit it. Don’t do it when it’s too late.

Because you never got to know how much you meant to me.

Day 97

I haven’t seen you in months. Your face is a blur in my head. I can’t even remember what your eyes look like anymore. It’s terrifying and I hate the fog that settles in my head whenever I think of you.

I wonder if you’re still with him. I wonder if you’ve found new interests and new hobbies, or if you still continue to sew and cook. Your new alias seems foreign to me; I don’t think it’ll ever fit you as well as your previous one. I hope you’re smiling even if you’re going through rocky days, and maybe my grin will flash at the back of your mind, even if its unrecognisable to you now.

I remember singing your favourite song and fighting my spilling tears with a shaky smile when you were being wheeled in. All of your other belongings were in plastic cases, waiting to join you. My heart felt like it was in those cases too, awaiting the moment of destroyal. It was the reality of this world  and it was what our destinies came to. I just really wanted to hold you one last time, to tell you I loved you because I never said it enough.

I hated how misaligned these cleansings were. One soulmate always had to suffer before their memories were strippe for a new one.

Even if you forgot Floofscraps, the pancakes or the snow days, it wouldn’t matter. I just wished you would never forget me.

Day 218

In another century, we may cross paths again. We may be able to make more blankets. Cook more pancakes. Visit more cafes. Play in more snow. Sing more songs. SHARE MORE LOVE.

I love you. I miss you. You never got to know how much you meant to me. I wished you would never forget about me.

Because I’m about to forget about you.

“Lee Seokmin? You have to put that journal with the rest of your belongings. We can’t stall your soulmate cleansing any further.”

The glaring lab coat of one of the many ‘doctors’ seemed to blur even more with the building tears, as Seokmin steadied his trembling hands to place the journal and pen on top of the boxes. The journal that documented every painful day ever since your cleansing. He was being wheeled into a room, his eyes trailing along the blinding white lights streamed across the ceiling.

As he was placed into the machine, his vision slowly plagued with darkness, he thought of the smiling face of yours for the last time. It was his last chance to bask in his love for you before it was gone for good. Slowly, the boxes of his belongings caged him inside the machine. He was no longer going to remember this soulmate and the experiences anymore. It would be a new experiment, the factors and people changing again to test the scientifics of love. But he knew inside, there was no calculated science behind love.

Because despite the machine’s best efforts, the searing heat and pain that felt like his erratic heart was being sucked out of his chest cavity, and the light flooding into his eyes as he was lifted out of the machine, he could still remember you. You were still his soulmate even if you couldn’t remember him. Fate was so twisted he couldn’t let you go when you didn’t even know of his existence.

Seokmin loves you.

lajsskjsks this may sound weird but can i have Cream Puffs and Ice Cream + vernon for the drabble ????

Hansol was a man of many talents but being a genius at making cream puffs and ice cream was definitely not an expected one. You knew he was always grooving it up with a new rap track in his studio, puzzling together his latest discovery of a new toy car model, or suddenly spilling a slew of philosophical ideas and hypotheticals as you were dozing asleep on the couch at 3 am. He never neared the kitchen, always claiming that any food he cooked besides ramen was always inedible and a disaster that he didn’t know how to clean up would ensue in your already very cramped kitchen.

So to find him up before 12, nodding to offonoff while piping choux batter on an expertly lined baking sheet was quite the spectacle. The hunched figure clad in pajamas and the concentration strewn across his brows rejected your suspicions that he impulsively decided to try something new. Rubbing your eyes with disbelief even if drowsiness was still in your system, Hansol always surprised you with the constant reveals of mismatched facets of his personality. This was definitely one of the largest.

“When did you learn how to make cream puffs? I’ve never even seen you cook anything beyond ramen and even then we always agree that I’m better at it?” Your mouth gaped, pupils darting across the pristine measuring cups you didn’t even know you owned and the steady hand guiding the piping bag as if he’s done it for years as a pastry chef.

A gummy smile dawned upon his previously stern face. With his eyes still trained on the dollops of batter, he chuckled, “you should check the freezer too. I made ice cream. Salted caramel.”

You immediately shuffled towards the freezer, finding a tupperware shoved hazardously in the limited space. The milky color and the messy sides of the container made you throw your gaze towards the auburn haired boy. “This isn’t an odd dream right? Out of all things your expertise lies with cream puffs and ice cream? What else are you hiding-” you were interrupted by a laugh and a hoodie covered arm wrapping around your shoulder.

“I’m not that great at it but it is really the only two things I can make with confidence. My sister really likes cream puffs, and my mom has a thing for homemade ice cream. One summer I made them over and over again, trying to master it so I could present it on their birthdays. I got sidetracked as that was the same summer I really got into music, so I’m halfway between being clueless and being a true pastry chef. They’re not that great, if I’m being honest.” His ramble and yet another display of his deep love for his family made your heart explode like confetti. Knowing Hansol, taking up something random like this really did align with his kind soul.

“Treats made with love are always the best. I can’t wait to try them Sol.”

The blushed smile that reached his eyes as he pulled you into his warm chest reminded you of why you loved this wacky, reserved and oh so interesting boy.

I love writing slice of life aus, and I have a soft spot for college aus as well!

I love reading novels, and have recently been getting into sci-fi and fantasy.

My favourite Seventeen song is Can’t See The End/Space. Wonwoo’s voice kills me a little every time :O

a little update~

I’m feeling a lot better but I’m still recovering!! I have something short but special in the works which I can hopefully post in time for Wonwoo’s birthday but my data is really bad here and I only get good wifi occasionally so I have no idea when that’ll go up.

In the mean time, please welcome Ena again and I’m honestly super glad she’s doing well and writing again! The blog lacked her spark when she was absent.

I hope you all are as hyped as I am for the comeback (rip my wallet though... for I have bought all three versions + the kino aaahhhh) and Oh My! Really is gonna be the bop of summer (Wonwoo looking like a snack?? You betcha)
